Like, Idk if either of the Johns have been divorced, and that's, like, not my business. The first one that, like, comes to mind, for me, is probs All Time What, which Ig isn't rlly a "divorce" song since it's not mentioned what the relation is other than romantic.

There's Lucky Ball and Chain! That's an amazeballs song! It's in Flood. Flood in general is a rlly good album, like, I prefer I Like Fun personally, but Flood is def popular 4 a reason. It isn't rlly mentioned that they're married in that song either, is it? Tho "Ball and Chain" does kinda imply that, right? I've never, like, act heard any1 refer 2 their spouse like that, but also, I use Tumblr. So, I'm not rlly in the, like, target market 4 that phrase, am I?

The obvi 1 is They'll Need a Crane. That's from Lincoln, I think. I haven't listened 2 that song in a while. It's a rlly squidtastic song tho! I'll listen 2 it rn, so brbeak.

Okay, so Ig that song is more abt considering divorce, but I still think it's super inkredible. We could totes do a cover of it. Like, when June gets better obvi. That does give the rest of us plenty of time to practice it tho. I mean, the bass is kinda of an integral part, but she's kinda better than the rest of us anyway. So, she can pick it up.

If u haven't heard of They Might Be Giants, I totes recommend them. Like, u've heard them play b4, obvi. They wrote the music 4 Coraline and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and, like, ninety bagillion other things. I'd totes recommend Doctor Worm first. Then, mb When Will You Die. We did a cover of that song. Then, Lucky Ball and Chain.

We had our first practice since June got back from break yesterday! (Srry 4 not posting 4 ages; was gonna post banjo stuff but I ended up leaving town 4 a bit, which means no totes tentatcular banjo music 4 y'all.)

It went kinda whatevs. I mean, we have our practices over discord since June is out of state rn and whatevs, which means we have 2 deal with a digidelay. (Digital delay, get it?) I alr talked abt that where, 4 recordings, I just record every1's parts separately, then compile them l8er. Inkdk if y'all have, like, suggestions 4 a better way of doing, but it'd b appreciated since I've been doing 4, like, 3 years now.

Anyway! I gave every1 their coats! ('Sides June /obvi) 4, like, the latter half of the practice, June showed us these cards where she wrote, like, a sentence or two abt every mammal. They were, like, pinned to her wall in a, like, phylogeny tree, but, like, there was a card 4 every mammal. (Inkdk if y'all r taking me seriously, but, like, she said she did them while she was sick. And, like, it didn't have breeds of dogs, but, like. Inkdk that was bonkers 2 me.)

What even is Tasmania? Like, I don't live there or anything. But, like, why are all the mammals there marsupials? Like, I know that's a bit of an exaggeration.

Like, there's monotremes (Egg-laying mammals). Both of those have electroreception glands. Platypi (Inkdk if that's the correct pluralization) have them in the beak, and echidnas have them in their tongues. I think Tasmania has Short-beaked Echidnas, and just that.

There's also all the introduced species. Rats, hares, dogs, deer, all that. Plus, the sea creatures. It's an island, so obvi, it has seals and whales. I think the main whales it has are pilot whales, and the seals are mostly fur seals.

This is mainly spurred from the new hunt for thylacine dna. Like, since we're trying to bring them back and all. I'm not that greatly interested in this stuff. I'll totes listen it sm1 talks abt it, but Ik all this stuff bc June and her mom talked abt biology stuff non-stuff. Then, like, any time June goes to do an internship in some random place, she has me check on her mom, who tells me all abt everything.

Like, I've been told WHY it's like that. Marsupials, which originated in North America and Asia, excepting, like, shrew opossums, I think, migrated to South America. Then, later in the continental drift cycle, a lot of them migrated across Antarctica into Australia. During that migration, a lot stayed where current day Tasmania is, and they evolved into ecological niches, mostly to predate on birds and insects. Then, like, when South America and North America connected, opossums migrated into North America, and shrew opossums migrated into South America.

A better question is why are they all named like that? Like, a Tasmanian DEVIL? It weighs, like, 15 pounds! "Well, its bite force, and it's the largest carnivorous marsupial." Its bite force is only particularly large compared to its size! Like, u aren't gonna give a squirrel the scientific name "hateful devourer of flesh" just because it starts eating meat. Plus, it's only the largest carnivorous marsupial bc we got rid of the bigger ones. At least in palawa kani they're called purinina.

That was a wild side tangent, but also, we need to keep uploading even if we can't upload music! (4 those that 4got, June is getting her rabies vaccine, so she can't practice rn. That means we're down a bassist, and she doesn't want us 2 record anything without her. Granted, she's also in Texas rn, so all recordings of use would b me getting recordings of each instrument separately and compiling them.)

I started making jackets 4 Cuttlefish Ink! And by jackets, I mean lab coats! I'll share the pattern l8er if y'all want it, but I'm also gonna b dyeing them and printing on them 4 every member!

Like, on June's, I figured I'd make it orange since that's her fav color, and I'd put a bunch of wasp stuff on it! I've got linocuts of wasps, I think, and I can make more if I don't. I've gotta share the sketches of the coats then 2, so look out 4 more posts soon, kk? Ig, I should go ahead and describe them or whatevs 2 then?

So, like, June's, as I said, I was gonna put wasp stuff on it. I think her fav species is P. Carolina. That's the common red wasp, I think; I'm basing the color of her coat of them. She likes wasps a lot. At least, she tells us abt them at most opportunities, and her mom says that she likes them a ton. So, I was gonna put wasp wings on the back and design the arms kinda like paper wasp colonies. 2 remind y'all, June's our bassist. She works in conservation, so she is getting the rabies vaccine rn, which is preventing us from doing any recording. Ig I should try 2 put more alligator stuff in her coat since she mostly works with them, I think. Mine! I'm Kat, idk if y'all remembered. I play the banjo 4 us, and when there's no banjo in the song, I play lead guitar. I'm dyeing mine pink since that's my fav color, and I'm basing it off squids! That should've been obvi. Specifically, I'm basing mine off the robust clubhook squid. Y'know, the first footage of one of them was of it incredibly sick, and it was used in a horror movie b4 anything else. Afterwards, it was used in a book on fish that could b caught in Europe where they claimed it was a giant squid and also switched it from being caught in the Pacific 2 the Atlantic. Wildly off topic, srry. Anyway, I'm putting tentacles on the sleeves and stuff. I might add a hood.

Sasha! That's our drummer. She sent me a hex code when I asked her fav color. #02cb96 I, like, dk how close I can get with dye 2 that color, but I'm gonna try. She also said if I could yellow would b fine 2, but Becka wanted hers 2 be yellow alr. She said she wanted hers 2 b dragonfly-themed but lit only sent me photos of damselflies, so idk. I mean, I do k. I'm gonna make it damselfly-themed bc it'd also b harder 2 make it dragonfly-themed. I'm probs also gonna put some cattails on it and mb a heron or smth? June wanted 2 have a Saluda Burrowing Crayfish on some of the band stuff, so I could do that.

Bakca! She's the vocalist and second guitar. As I alr said, she wants hers 2 be yellow, and she wanted hers lemon-themed. That's probs the easiest one since I'll put, like, a lemon tree on the back and lemons on the sleeves. Citruses are annoying. Like, when they come up on the metaflora, I mean. Like, they taste good, but there's only, like, 2 real species in there. Everything else is made up.
