Reg Whitehead: A wee story about Bill himself. When we were standing around in the studio waiting to shoot and I just happened to be standing next him and he said, "You call yourself an actor?". So I said, "Well, I'm not fully matured yet, Bill, but I'm aiming that way, yes". So he said, "Well, you can call yourself an actor when you can do this:" and with that he set off from one end of the studio to the other, tap dancing! In full costume. And he tap danced his way right the way across the studio and then came back and ended up bang! in front of me, and he said, "Can you do that?"

This issue’s cover story was not a game, but by the astronomer Charles T. Kowal. He promoted the “perhaps slow but certainly personal” qualities of his Commodore 64 analyzing the motion of Neptune to search for a tenth planet. Things might not have worked out quite the way he’d hoped, but it was still worth trying. The “TED” on the cover wound up as the Commodore Plus/4, a “riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma” rather than a million-seller.
