Operation Overhaul - Part 9
The defeat of the Creature Rejection Clan was little more than a footnote to the architects of the new villainous order. To the public, it was a brutal, but contained, clash between two extremist groups, a small victory for the hero society. But to Overhaul and Flect Turn, it was a necessary distraction, a smokescreen behind which they could work. The heroes, busy with the aftermath and the public outcry, paid no mind to the true machinations taking place in the shadows. With Dabi, Muscular, and Moonfish joining his new Humarise-backed group, Overhaul’s army was growing.
Meanwhile, the other former members of the League of Villains found their own way. Shigaraki’s death had left a void that no one could fill. In their desperation and without a central leader, they were drawn to the rising tide of the Meta Liberation Army. Now led by Nine, with Dark Might as his second-in-command, the MLA was a far more organized and ideological force than the LOV ever was. The remaining members, including Toga, Spinner, and Mr. Compress, were a fractured lot, but Nine saw their potential. He recognized their raw power and their shared frustration with a system that had failed them. Their integration into the MLA marked the beginning of a transformation, as the MLA began to shed its old identity and evolve into something new and far more dangerous: the Paranormal Liberation Front.
Overhaul, never one to be outdone, made his next move. The heroes had been celebrating a major success—the arrests of countless small-time criminals and high-level villains from the old regime. The prisons, especially Tartarus, were overflowing. But Overhaul saw opportunity where others saw security. Using his connections to Humarise, he had already begun to make his influence felt in the black market of information and technology. He needed more manpower, more unique Quirks, and he knew exactly where to find them. He began a systematic campaign to hire the most ruthless and capable thugs, the ones who were too cunning to be caught in the initial dragnet.
This was only the first part of his plan. The true masterstroke was yet to come. Overhaul had his sights set on the most infamous prisoners of all, the ones with a grudge against hero society so deep that they would be willing to work with anyone who promised them freedom. In a series of precisely coordinated raids on high-security prisons across the country, he broke out a number of notable inmates. Among them was Kaina Tsutsumi, the former Hero Public Safety Commission agent known as Lady Nagant. Her Quirk, "Rifle," and her history as an assassin for the very system she now despised, made her a perfect fit for Overhaul's new world order. Other key jailbreakers included the likes of Muscular’s old partner, the "Sludge Villain" who attacked Bakugo, and a handful of other notorious figures. Overhaul's forces grew stronger by the day, as he offered them a simple, clear proposition: freedom and revenge in exchange for their loyalty. The era of loose alliances was over. Two new, powerful factions had emerged, and the true battle for the future of hero society was about to begin.
MLA’s Transformation into the PLF
The ruins of the League of Villains have been absorbed into Nine’s Meta Liberation Army—and with the influx of defectors, Nine declares a bold rebrand: the People’s Liberation Front. At the abandoned warehouse in the industrial quarter, Nine stands before his new council: Spinner, Lady Nagant, Mr. Compress, and dozens of former League acolytes. They watch as he tears down the old “MLA” banner, unveiling the PLF emblem—a clenched fist rising from broken chains. The mood is electric. Spinner’s tentacles twitch in excitement, Lady Nagant holsters her rifle with renewed purpose, and Compress folds a card into the first official PLF seal. They’re no longer fringe terrorists: this is a movement for “true freedom,” and every ex-Villain pledges to fight under the new flag.
Far across town, Overhaul convenes in the hidden basement beneath Flect Industries’ salvage yard. Crates of arms line the walls; mutated sludge—courtesy of Wolfram’s sourcing network—bubbles in vats. Overhaul presides over the meeting, his cold eyes fixed on a holographic map of the city’s detention facilities. “We strike tonight,” he announces. “I’ve contracted the remaining street thugs—Chrono, Juzo, Mammoth—and even a few mercenaries from Humarise. Their target: East District Prison. Inside lie our future assets.” Flect flicks a switch, marking guard rotations in real time. Overhaul’s grin is razor-sharp. “By dawn, a dozen jailbreakers will serve under me.”
Shortly after midnight, a convoy of black vans rumbles through deserted streets. Chrono leads the charge, teleporting past the perimeter fence and cutting power lines. Juzo and the mercs tumble over former checkpoints as Mammoth smashes reinforced gates with brutal strength. The prison alarms howl—but Flect’s hacking drones scramble the signal, delaying any hero response by precious minutes. In the maximum-security wing, panic erupts as cell doors lurch open in unison. From one cell, a familiar silhouette emerges: Lady Nagant, her sniper rifle already in hand. From another, the mutant duo Muscular and Moonfish slip into the shadows. Even the feared assassin Nagant Saga strides free, her eyes cold with vengeance. Each prisoner falls in line behind Chrono’s teleporting form, chanting Overhaul’s name like a prayer.
Back in the salvage yard, Overhaul observes through reinforced glass as the jailbreakers arrive by hidden rail car. He greets them personally, inspecting each recruit’s scars and quirks.
Lady Nagant salutes crisply, rifle slung across her back.
Muscular flexes with a savage grin.
Moonfish mutters through yellow teeth, eager for carnage.
Nagant Saga bows once—silent, deadly presence incarnate.
Overhaul’s nod is approval enough. “You’ve been reborn,” he declares. “As long as my vision of order stands, you will not lack purpose.” The new cohort chants, “Order over chaos!”
Aftermath and Foreshadowing
While Overhaul consolidates his forces, the PLF stages its inaugural rally in the old CRC district. Villagers, once fearful of Mutant quirk-bearers, now wave PLF banners with fervor. The hero agencies—distracted by the CRC flare-up orchestrated in Part 8—have little time to respond. Overhaul studies the same district from a hidden sniper’s nest, a single bullet pinprick in the glass. He smiles: the stage is set for a city torn between two revolutions.
