Teppan Kitchen - Delicious Sizzling Hot Plates
One of my favourite food courts to eat in is in Aberdeen Center. They have so many awesome places to eat in there that sometimes it's really hard to decide on what to get. Teppa Kitchen is a solid choice for me for several reasons. First, they accept visa. This is huge considering more than half (of the good ones anyways) the places here only accept cash! Second, they don't usually have huge lineups. Third, they serve HK-style coffee-milktea. Teppan Kitchen specializes in sizzling iron hot plates, and they have a number of different protein choices. [caption id="attachment_1248" align="aligncenter" width="500"] menu[/caption] They also have a funny looking display with fake meat to show you their portions. [caption id="attachment_1247" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Samples[/caption] They usually have a special where you can get one of the indicated dishes (today it was the 'A' Grade Rib Eye Beef) with miso soup and a drink for around $8. I always get a cold drink, so I had to add an additional $0.50. For the HK cold Coffee-Milk Tea though, it's super worth it! It's a pretty good meal for its price! [caption id="attachment_1249" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Beef Special with added Egg and Cold Coffee Milk Tea ($8.25 + $0.75 for egg and +$0.50 for cold drink)[/caption] One of the first things you'll see is the rawness of the beef. You have to leave it for a little bit and let the beef cook on the iron plate. [caption id="attachment_1250" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Love the sizzling heat[/caption] There are instructions on the back of the paper wrapper (which also blocks some of the oil that sizzles at you) on how to properly eat this dish. [caption id="attachment_1251" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Instructions[/caption] It's got great flavour, but it's not the best sizzling plate I've had. You have to mix it well, otherwise some areas will be overly salty and some areas may be overly sweet because of the sauce. Adding the egg made it taste even better! The beef could have been more tender, but it's not terrible. The sauce is awesome! Rice is rice. [caption id="attachment_1252" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Nicely seared beef.[/caption] For a food court stall, Teppan Kitchen nails it pretty good. It's one of my go-to places at Aberdeen, but it's still lagging behind when you compare it to actual restaurant quality food. That being said, I wish there was something like this in Pacific Center! I would totally hit it up during my lunch breaks!
