Hi there! I was wondering if a pregnant mother took some kind of drug or medication, is it possible for it to effect or cause a genetic mutation in the baby? Thanks!

Hello! Yes, in fact there is a whole class of mutagenic materials call teratogens that cause mutations in embryos or fetuses without necessarily affecting the mother. The most commonly known example is alcohol, which can cause Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and does affect the expression of some genes during development.
