and i think that is because romania and moldova parallel norway and iceland in a lot of ways???  or at least, they do when you look at it at-a-glance, they're similar in that romania and norway both helicopter and smother their little brothers and if you try to age moldova up, you can easily see how he would become like iceland.  however moldova looks pretty young canonically (and also he's been independent for a very short time in comparison) so i'm actually wondering if moldova isn't what iceland was like back in the day

i think another big thing i forgot to take into account was how much influence russia still has over the both of them, i mean moldova outright calls him brother or uncle (i think the translations are under debate right now) which i highly doubt any of the other former eastern bloc countries are doing

i’m avoiding reblogging this so sorry for quick replies- but i am recovering like you know, getting better lately, a bit at least. and honestly i’m interested in hearing all your moldova headcanons and all the things so far. ramble. do the thing.

okay i don't actually have just a ton of headcanons right now but based on his clothing (how it's all patched up, he seems to lack shoes, he made his halloween costume from scratch) that a) he's extremely good at crafting/sewing/with his hands like wow good for you kid

but the reason he's like that is because he refuses to let romania buy him anything.  and romania's like "what the fuck you can't even feed yourself" "i can feed myself just fine you don't worry about me :T" and he's very cute but surprisingly firm about it

HOWEVER.  i'm also really liking the idea that he has abandonment issues based on... historical events... that up until recently he's liked to cling to romania's coattails a lot and gets upset if he's left in an unfamiliar place

everything is really tentative right now, on one hand i like the idea of him being the blue to romania's red but on the other hand i don't know just how mature he should be, his development would be really stunted

hello i am emmit and i talk so much i reached character limit in the text reply thing so: i went back and listened to it and it seems so, it's somewhere around the "cause nobody wants to die too fast" line, just baaaarely kind of hinting at it. even if that wasn't the intention the melodies are similar for a few seconds. it's not uncommon for soundtracks to pick their sort of trademark song and make it a kind of recurring melody in other tracks, so reluctant heroes might be that kind of thing.

i need to re-listen to it and make sure but i completely understand about the trademark melody thing, so many soundtracks do that-- i haven't found a lot of them that /don't/ actually and the ones that don't have such a distinctive sound that they almost don't need to if that makes sense
