CHECK THIS OUT. TERRARIA LORE MADE BY ME
- Gods. four of em. One makes worlds, one appoints heroes from earth, one has control over terrarian world daytime, one has control over night. Theyre pretty chill also
- Earth is kinda just regular earth and evolved like normal btw. Separate from all of terraria
- Gods make worlds because it's fun and also so they can keep trying to improve on what they do (which is make worlds)
- Gods need heroes bc a long time ago they accidentally fucked up making the very first world (that was not earth they did not make earth) and now every subsequent one has those same irregularities that they can’t fix on their own. It's a balance thing
- Heroes are people who go around saving the world. They’re extra cool and epic bc when gods decide on them to be a hero, they blast them with all kinds of magic and gunk that makes them able to do all the cool shit. Doesn’t last on earth
- On earth every time a new world is made theres a transport point made where heroes go to their world and other corresponding worlds. They’re pretty out of the way and you kinda have to know where they are beforehand, but people have stumbled into them before
- Terraria time moves a hell of a lot slower than earth. 2 weeks in terraria is 1 day on earth
- Every single terraria thing cannot be transported to earth. Anything equipped and in your inventory just kinda disappears into light until you go back
- Guides are people in an organization who just wanna study every little thing about Terraria so much without necessarily being heroes. On earth theyre basically just terrarian librarians
- Lunar cult AND SOLAR CULT are just kinda churches that just sprang up bc heroes caught wind of the moon and sun lord’s existence and yknow. You could make a religion out of this. (which they did do). And there’s a lot of differences in how each church goes about teachings and things from world to world and leader to leader, with some of them leaning more towards actual cult than others
- Guides and the 2 cults are pretty connected in that they’re they only groups on earth that know about terraria. They sort of help each other out but there’s a looooot of guides who are pretty apprehensive towards cultists and vice versa
- Once either a guide or cult leader is confident enough in their abilities in either field, they can head to a terraria world to basically beg to get blasted with that same magic and gunk that makes heroes cool, but in a different way (to make them an official Guide or Lunatic/Solar cultist with either expansive knowledge of the world or great god communication powers and Cool Magic)
- But also uh oh with that magic and gunk there also comes a curse! Guides are doomed to become fleshy hell monsters (commonly known as the Wall of Flesh as you mightve guessed) and the cult leaders are so incredibly full of Magic of the Gods and are literally able to hear the god they worship inside their brain at any time and that combo usually either gets to their heads, drives them to madness or both, unless they’ve got a very good head on their shoulders. None of this is intentionally malicious, just more cases of gods wayyy overestimating the limits of humans and making some mistakes whoopsie there. Didn’t mean to drive him to madness or house a wall of flesh inside him
- Uhh what else is there. Umm. most bosses are just a product of the fucked up terraria environment creating huuuge beasts. I like the thing abt the lunar cult forcing the mechanic to build robot cthulhu (moon lord) so that’s still here. Thats a thing some of them do when yknow Driven to fanatical madness. Other npcs either just originate from terraria (witch doctor, goblin tinkerer, etc) or are drawn to those transport points when those in-game npc requirements are met
Why I don't think the Hallow is as bad as the Corruption or Crimson.
The Hallow is a biome in Terraria that is created upon entering Hardmode. It is a stark contrast to the Corruption and Crimson and consists of a beautiful landscape and music... as well as creatures that are just as powerful as the world's evil. The lore states that the Hallow is out to destroy everything it sees as impure. The Empress of Light is so tyrannical that she attacks you if a Prismatic Lacewing is killed. All this lore leads to the Hallow being seen as just as bad or worse than the Crimson. But is it really? Well, here's some evidence against that:
The lore itself is already a mess. For a long time, Terraria went without any lore to go with it. And when the lore WAS added, it was kind of a mess. Not that the lore should be entirely discredited, but deciding that this lore is the be-all and end-all of how you interpret Terraria is probably not the smartest route to take. Especially when Terraria is an open-world sandbox where the player just wants to dig, fight, explore and build without thinking too much about a plot.
There are many things from the purity that remain once the Hallow takes over that would be Thanos-snapped if it had been taken over by the Corruption or Crimson. Critters, plants and NPCs can all coexist with the Hallow. Another thing the Hallow does not do is take over the Jungle or Glowing Mushroom Biomes and while Hallow can overwrite the Jungle via Clentamintator, it cannot overwrite Glowing Mushroom Biomes this way. Perhaps the Hallow simply wants to raise all purity around it to its level and perhaps, knowing that the Jungle is strong enough to fend off the world evil, leaves it alone.
The Empress of Light is implied to be mad at you for killing a Prismatic Lacewing and wants to kill you just for doing that. But why don't enemies of any kind cause her to appear and kill said enemy? Perhaps it's because she literally just wants to spar with you and she already knows that the enemies don't stand any chance in hell against her. This is further demonstrated by the fact that Terraprisma only drops if the entire battle with her is done during the day - it might be an extra reward for being able to fight her without getting hit. Her battle IS a "bullet heaven" after all. On that note, the Torch God may also be more of a challenge than an attempt on your life. He cannot even be summoned if the only people nearby a bunch of torches have already consumed The "Torch God's Favor". But why does the Empress of Light continue to appear after the player even after they get Terraprisma? So the player can get MORE Terraprismas, most likely (probably to re-roll prefixes if you're not rich enough). Then again, that's just my theory about both bosses/events.
The Dryad prefers a world full of Hallow to a world full of Corruption/Crimson, though she prefers the world to be 100% pure.
Some NPCs prefer to live in Hallow, such as the Nurse, Wizard, Party Girl and Tavernkeep. On the other hand, while the Clothier, Witch Doctor and Tax Collector dislike it, they suffer no ill effects other than being unhappy about where they are living.
So no, I don't think the Hallow is not as bad as the Corruption or Crimson, even if it isn't as nice as the Purity. It can be seen as an overprotective force or could fall into the Well-Intended Extremist trope. I still don't think it's as much of a Crapsaccharine World as it is made out to be. But it is up to interpretation.
Soon I might make a post about everything wrong with Terraria Lore, detailing all the plot holes and contradictions.
So the current Terraria lore SUCKS so I made my own Terraria lore. I suck at writing stories and I can’t think of any other way to show it besides an incomprehensible chart. The only way I can explain it is by people asking me about it. I have an ask box. AMA.
this is the easiest way to explain the boss connection to cthulhu and i like tier lists
