10 Albums We Can't Wait To Hear In 2016
Isaiah Rashad's Untitled Album
To this very day, I still feel like I jam Isaiah Rashad's "Cilvia Demo" album more than any other rap project. It truly is the definition of timeless all-purpose music, that's why I'm so excited for whatever Rashad is bringing to the table for the new year. Projects by not only him, but a majority of TDE have been confirmed for 2016. Interesting enough, I'm actually more interested in this album over a new Schoolboy or Ab-Soul album.
I've now been waiting on the new Overdoz album "2008" for almost 3 years, and it was supposed to drop last year. They dropped multiple fantastic singles and visuals throughout 2015, all leading up to well, nothing. I'm regaining my patience though, because I understand that true quality takes time, and it'll probably be my favorite album of the year.
Terrence Specatcle's Untitled LP
Terrence Spectacle's last album "NuDallas" was such a huge leap forward in 2013, that'll be extremely interesting to see what he has up his sleeve to become the worlds biggest pop star. I already know for a fact that there will be no rapping on his next album, strictly pop & R&B vibes. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I just have a really good feeling his follow up LP will land in 2016.
I'm anticipating Kanye's next album for all of the wrong reasons. I would just really like to know, if he's fallen off musically. The release of "Swish" has been tugging at my insides, because Kanye has never put out an awful album, so hope he doesn't start right now. Based on a few of the singles though, things aren't looking that great. You have to remember that I hold Ye to a higher standard musically, just look at his catalogue. It's untouchable, and I'm hoping he doesn't tarnish it with "Swish"
Will Frank Ocean Ever Drop His Album?
Frank Ocean's fallacy of an album "Boys Don't Cry" or something like that; never hit. It was supposed to release in July or around that time, but nothing happened. In fact it's more than likely one of the greatest musical mysteries of the 21st century. I'm in no way, shape or from dying for an all new Frank Ocean album, but it would be cool to hear some new content from the artist.
James Blake - Radio Silence
I've been waiting so long for a new James Blake album, that I actually forgot that I was waiting. James Blake is a seasonal artist for me. I only tend to listen to him whenever the cold weather rolls around. By all means he's an awesome artist, just an acquired taste is all. He's already confirmed through BBC radio that the album will feature both Kanye West & Bon Iver. That alone has me excited.
Drake's upcoming album "Views From The 6" will be his most successful album to date. After a summer like that, there's no denying it. He crafted a number one hit just from a diss, and released arguably the most popular song of the year "Hotline Bling" I don't listen to Drake very often, but I'm still looking forward to this one. Hopefully he puts Roy Woods on the album.
I could careless about what folks think, Lorde is a sensational artist. I don't enjoy all of her music, but I enjoy it enough to anticipate her next album. Lorde stayed quiet for the entire year, besides her feature on Disclosures album. That track brought about an interesting shift in style, so I'm wondering if her album will be similar. I guess we'll have to wait.
Post Malone's Debut Album
I know there are a lot of people waiting for Post Malone's debut album. Will he deliver? is what a majority of people are wondering. The Texas artist hasn't put out a bad single yet, but it seems like there's always a curse on new artists debut albums. Based on his most recent single "Boy Bandz" that just can't be true. Post had one of the best years in 2015, so let's see how he follows up the major success.
Lil Uzi Vert's Debut Album
This is just a wish, but I have a good feeling it'll actually happen. Lil Uzi Vert already released his debut mixtape "Luv Is Rage" late last year, so I'm hoping he actually comes through with an album for the 2016. I've recently been listening to his entire repertoire of music, and it's turned me into a huge fan. So what's up with that debut album for the new year?
