1\2 Hey I've got a very special request! My dad broke his calcanus into 3 pieces after hurricane Ivan in 2004. Ever since he's walked with a slight limp without shoes because that foot is SO sensitive (he wasn't supposed to walk again at all).

2/2 I tell you that to emphasise that I need some incredibly cushy socks for him. Preferably cotton. I was hoping for house slipper socks, but whatever you advise as your cushiest we would really really appreciate it!

Oh gosh! It’s amazing that he as able to walk again, go your dad! He definitely deserves some good socks to cushion his heel. I’ve got some recommendations for you, but I’d also like to mention that neither I nor anyone else here is qualified to give any medical advice and so these are our best guesses/hopes for a comfortable fit for this particular kind of injury.

The first socks that come to mind are the M Bootsocks and the Native Northwest line of socks. M Bootsocks are super cushy terry-lined socks with a generous fit–they’re also currently sold out, but you can sign up for notifications because we’ll be restocking them very soon.

The Native Northwest socks are also terry-lined, through the entire sock so it cushions the whole ankle as well as the foot. These socks are also breathtakingly beautiful and directly support Native artists here in the Pacific Northwest.

Now, as for bed socks, we don’t have any that are cotton. But the ones we do have are really lovely, if he can make exceptions for materials. The New Zealand Bedsocks are like wearing clouds on your feet. If he has a wool sensitivity, he may be able to work around that by wearing a thinner pair of socks underneath them to keep the wool away from his skin. We also have Polar Feet Slipper Socks, which are thinner polyester fleece. They’re not as cushion-y as the Bed Socks, but they are lovely and warm.
