TE§LA §AVEREM
She + weird ass bugs that follow her around
This is such a small detail, but I love how Trigun Maximum never goes out of its way to make Tesla look like a particularly sweet or cute child.
It would be such an easy way to garner sympathy from the audience — aww look, the happiest most innocent little girl! now look what they did to her!!! The contrast, waah! But we don't get any of that. Readers never really get to see any of Tesla's emotions or personality at all. Just snippets of the medical research logs that Vash and Knives found, which is... what realistically would have survived of her. Her sickness and pain and eventual records of her death, nothing more.
And the thing is that's enough. The plot point is heavy enough that there's no need for any extra fluff to drive it home. I'm so glad Nightow was confident enough to let the concept speak for itself because by God is it a strong one. Everyone wants to reach into the story and save Tesla when they read the Happy Days arc — we don't need to see her skipping through a daisy field in a white dress with teddy bear in hand or whatever
forgive me, sister, for holding onto the Sinners who defiled you
Sometimes it starts with one little girl.
Hey, what if Vash starts to draw so he can try and capture what Tesla and Nai looked like so he doesn't forget their faces?
Headcanon that I’ve had and haven’t seen around when it comes to Tesla is her color.
Vash has red for determination, passion, love, etc. while Knives is usually depicted with either white or light blue, a color of purity and divinity (which makes sense for his whole deal).
But what color would Tesla have?
Green.
The color of nature. After all, in her short lived life, she was seen as a subject. A strange life form those around her didn’t understand. Regardless of who enforced this idea, she was seen as what she was rather than who. A plant. Something from nature.
But idk, she could have a number of other colors associated with her. I just wish I saw more art of Tesla that gave her a color like her siblings have!

I made this for a Knives-focused charity zine called 'Morant's Blue' (@morantsbluezine) and it's been a while since the zine debuted so I thought I'd post it!
