Love Me Twice Chapter Twelve Sneak Peek
——
FFN II AO3
Updates every Friday.
Scene Summary: Tom Jacob and Ressler have a chat about memory manipulation.
Fic Summary: After saving Tom’s life, Red has a memory specialist attempt to alter the memory of what he found in the DNA test linked to the bones. Something goes wrong in the process that costs Tom 10 years worth of memories. With no recollection of Liz, Agnes, or anything that they’ve all been through, Tom - Jacob Phelps - escapes back to St Regis to recover and resume the career he doesn’t realize that he left.
Two and a half years later he is hired by a mystery woman to watch and protect Special Agent Elizabeth Keen from the threats that surround her. It doesn’t take long for him to realize there’s a connection there, and Tom finds himself starting down the path to try to recover his missing memories and rediscover who he had become before he lost them.
I’ve tried and tried to reblog this post , losing my reply a couple of times, so I had to do it this way. i included screen shots of the post for continuity.
@takadasaiko
yes, you are right, you didn’t call Ressler a wimp and I appreciate your thoughtful reply.🙂 I just think it unfair to call Tom superior (not saying you did that either). I don’t want to call either of them this bc it is like comparing apples to oranges. Tom is a mercenary, with a licence to kill above the law, whereas Ressler is an agent, with a LTK bound by the law. And I feel like Ressler, who was acting in good faith throughout the fugitive arc, acquiesced and confessed to Tom, even sharing that personal story about Tommy Markin, and Tom seemed to continue to belittle Ressler, as if trying to operate within the law was something deserving of derision... I mean, just cuz Red and Tom make it look goooood doesnt make it right..lol...
I, like you, am disappointed that Tom was killed off , before there was more development on many fronts. It made everything seem so futile. I really like Tessler moments and I wish there could have been many more.
As for the punches, this a trait of a Ressler’s I do not like, AT ALL! (when he beat Grimm up in Anna MacMahon is the first time I’ve ever yelled at the tv) However, in all the instances where Ressler became aggressive, I feel like there are two things that put a different perspective on the situations. With Laurel and Tom at Cooper’s, in both instances Ressler was walking away and both of them pursued him and laid a hand on him first and he lashed out, and also, Grimm came out of nowhere. With Tom, Laurel, and Tommy Markin, they all used language that literally hit below the belt. Tom’s “what r u her boyfriend?” is personal and totally inappropriate, Laurel’s “you don’t pee standing up in my house” and the “I’ll take my Grandfather’s izmael (sp?) to your private parts” and Tommy Markin’s “you don’t have the balls” . Not excusing Ressler aggresion at all, just looking at them in a different light. And none of these events fall within the range of normal protocols, so I , for one, forgive Ressler’s “warrior gene” going into overdrive.
Thanks again for your reply. Don’t know why I couldn’t reblog it...
