I’m working on some gifs this evening and was searching through Tessler gifs... I found this old set from my massive AU Everything Back to You that I wrote a few years ago in which Tom and Liz’s backgrounds were flipped. Instead of being raised by Sam, Liz was picked up by the Major and Jacob Phelps stumbled into an adopted family that loved him and did the best they could for a troubled child. In it, he never became Tom Keen, but Jacob Phelps went to Quantico and ended up roommates and later friends and partners with Donald Ressler. I loved these two in that story. Writing that relationship back then is now greatly influencing how I approach my bromance in my own original work that I’m doing. 

Yep. Love that trip down memory late, even if the gifs sucked big time. I did love that scene.

What I say: I love this villain because he feels real. Not every villain is nuanced enough to be so, but certainly most heroes are limited to choices of little weight, since anything too drastically afar from the moral standard might lead him to fall from the viewer’s grace. No big mistakes, no big character development. Not far from what is expected from us by decency, not far from a God or a perfect robot. I like to see villains that pull a string in people, that inch we are not suppose to have, but do. Villains who make huge mistakes while thinking they are justified, while wanting to love and be loved in return, villains that sabotage themselves with their destructive attitudes, bad guys who act according to their values and believes, not just for the LOLs of evil. This character is relatable and interesting, even if he never finds a better road.

ok but in season 2 he walks around NYC not bothering to cover up his Nazi neck tattoo and he decided the best way to keep Liz from going to jail was to kill a cop instead of just, I don’t know, saying “dude, I’m an elementary school teacher, please don’t tell anyone about my kink for being chained up and tortured on abandoned ships while my wife points her gun at me and bangs other men”
