The top side of observers closely matches the color of polished basalt.
I have used it here to make a rosary. For greater unity of color, the bottom side of pistons are used as tiles. Variety is added by having furnaces for lighter tiles.
This technique does not work sideways. The arrows on the observer can only be made to face up/down and only on the north/south sides. So, when planning a facade the direction matters.

After nearly two years of nearly minimal work, engine buffs, and schoolwork getting in the way, a test build of Chainsaw Quest finally surfaces.
Requires the RPG Maker VX Ace RTP to run. Please look at “READ THIS!.txt” file before running.
Many things are placeholder in this demo, including a lot of the graphics.
Known bugs: 1. Boss enemy is too weak. Need to fix this honestly 2. The event when a player tries to exit town on the south side is bugged. A character makes note of this. 3. An NPC near a rock doesn’t correctly display their walking animation. 4. An unfinished building can and will trap players who try to enter it. 5. Saving is disabled, and there are no save points in the current build.
Getting Started With Old World Test Builds: What to Expect
Old World test build releases and update for the revolutionary historical strategy game on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the ongoing efforts from developer Mohawk Games. Available to all owners via Steam and Humble Store. Let's break down the latest test build updates for Old World and see what's happening on Linux. 1. Clergy Changes: The game has certainly revamped how religious figures, the Clergy, work. Here's what's new:
Choosing Clergy: Instead of the old mission 'Initiate into Clergy', now there's 'Suggest For Clergy'. This is done through your Councillor and depends on the character's religion.
Limits and Flexibility: Each Old World nation can now have up to two Clergy members in this test build. As a result these Clergy can now be regular Courtiers and can get married.
Roles and Bonuses: Clergy can now teach as 'Tutor as Courtier' and they boost your religion's opinion by +30. If you follow a Pagan religion, your Clergy also has a better chance of becoming the Head of Religion.
New Missions: Pagan Clergy have a new mission 'Pagan Sacrifices', which can make a city happier or upset people. Clergy of World Religions can also act as Agents in their religious cities.
