"Tetonian Sunrise" 16" x 20" oil on canvasboard, 2020 Right now it seems like the entire state of Oregon is engulfed in wildfire smoke, and there are a few fires burning worrying close to the town I live in. This seems like a good time to share a scene of deep winter in Grand Teton National Park that I painted a few months ago, as a respite from the troubbles of late summer. This was a challenging piece for me; I was experimenting with a different painting surface than my usual, and I altered the lighting situation in my reference drastically to achieve the feeling I was looking for. I decided I don't much like the canvasboard surface, but I am always happy when I push my limits in rendering scenes with dramatic light and color. I hope the air is cool and clean wherever you are in the world! #landscapepainting #originalart #contemporaryart #westernart #oilpainting #artcollector #artforsale grandtetonnationalpark #tetoncounty #wyominglandscape #mountains #snow #winter #sunrise #tetons https://www.instagram.com/p/CE7B8nDDP81/?igshid=6oora32izvkp
