鉄男II
31 Days of Horror: [31/31]
↳ 鉄男II, Tetsuo II: Body Hammer (1992) dir. Shinya Tsukamoto
I still think about Tetsuo 2 : bodyhammer very often it has taken over a part of my brain and refuses to let go of me.
it’s such an insane story but not totally incomprehensible and the finale left me feeling like i’d been pulled from the sea of madness that tsukamoto lives in.
Honestly i would recommend this far more than the original which while i enjoy i feel has nothing on this in any way.
please watch more tsukamoto

Tetsuo 2: Body Hammer (鉄男II Body Hammer)
Plot
A normal business man gets filled with rage when a gang torments his family by kidnapping his son. When his anger reaches a certain point he transforms into a half human half weapon monstrosity and attacks anyone, guilty or innocent.
Opinion
This sequel is structured a bit more like a normal movie but the plot is somehow more convoluted. The story is different enough to not make it feel like a copy of the first film but i personally thought there wasn't enough new stuff going on that would make me recommend it. This is really only something for people who like weird Japanese movies (note: not weird BECAUSE they're Japanese but weird because they are weird movies and they also happen to be from Japan) and need something to scratch that itch, it's not a mainstream audience movie and wasn't for me i'm afraid. It did make me want to see a Junji Ito version of this story/concept tho.
