Whump Scene #14: Something special up for auction
“And next up, we’ve got a real beauty,” the auctioneer jeered. In a swift movement he tore the curtain back, revealing a cage made of thick iron. In the middle sat a hunched figure, shackled to the ground and shaking with emotion.
“A freshly caught, untouched human,” the auctioneer continued and pulled whumpee’s head up by their hair. “A healthy adult, bloodtype 0, a ritual virgin and lots of energy, so you are guaranteed to get plenty uses out of the specimen before they break!”
Wings fluttered, fangs bared and growls echoed. Eyes light up with interest and thirst. The crowd was engaged.
The auctioneer grinned. He knew he was offering one of a kind. “The bidding starts at 200 gold coins.”

liminal space dreamcore songs pt.1, pt. 2
Growing up Gen-Z, Gavin was familiar with those liminal space tiktok videos.
Those otherworldly visuals with songs that made you feel that you were being transported into another world, inciting a false sense of nostalgia with places that you had never been before. Gavin thought those videos made him feel nauseous, but not in a way that made him want to vomit, if that made sense.
One day he was scrolling on his phone like usual, legs up on his desk-- not exactly good work etiquette, but Gavin Reed couldn't care less.
He came across one of those liminal space video series. A compilation of dreamcore music with a mysterious title. Although Gavin wasn't really into those kinds of tiktok videos, he did like mysteries. And he loved music. So he decided to give it a try.
Earbuds in, he listened to those songs, feeling something odd in his chest with each melody. The pictures that came in the slideshow made him feel that he had been there before, although there was no place from his childhood that looked like that.
He closed his eyes for a second, letting the day's weariness be lifted just for a moment.
When he opened his eyes again, something felt off.
He took out his earbuds and looked around.
He was still in the bullpen, but everyone else had gone. Not even Captain Fowler was inside his transparent office.
And everything looked wrong. It was as if the glass and the walls and the floor were all tinted silver. Like the world had been drained of color.
He stood up and looked around, hand making sure that his gun was still in his hip holster, and called out.
"Hello? Anybody there?"
His voiced echoed in an unnatural way. He walked toward the familiar desks around him. It looked as if everyone was doing their work as usual, then vanished. The terminals were all left on.
Did the fucking rapture happen and he was left behind? Gavin was not religious but he remembered his grandmother would mention that sometimes.
An urge suddenly formed inside his chest.
Find him.
It wasn't a spoken word, but it was like a pull in his gut.
Who the fuck is 'him'? Gavin thought.
Find him.
With a frustrated huff, Gavin took his jacket and set out.
