Tetsuo’s Aide song for u all here. We got Clown by Switchblade Symphony which I stumbled upon before when I was looking for a Kai/Makiko tune. It just gives me vibes of his manipulative side where he’s looking down on Tetsuo/Akira or even Makiko. He just sees them as tools for him to further his own ambitions. The song has a really empowering but condescending tone to it. The line I'll pick out is “My dear, you play the clown” cos like even tho the Aide didn't know about Tetsuo’s clown escapades...it’s accurate af. I’ll also just link a thing to the lyrics here cos honestly it’s insane how much of a match it is

Rambling about Akira because I feel like it.
One of the big takeaways I had after finishing the manga is just how much stuff occurs off-screen. Seriously, so much happens that there are gaps or things that aren't shown cuz they're not relevant. I kinda like that about the manga's storyline.
I sometimes think about the rise of the Great Tokyo Empire (in part because I find stories about cults interesting). On the one hand it's somewhat similar to what Tetsuo did with the Clowns - just on a larger scale. At the same time, even if I believe he's that ambitious, I see no way in which Tetsuo could've pulled that off on his own, you know? Given his appearance at the end of vol 3, I feel that if left to do this himself, he wouldn't amass that sort of following. He doesn't strike me as someone smart, organized, or forward-thinking enough for that.
I'm also curious about how Tetsuo and the aide first met. How could that have gone down? How did the aide convince Tetsuo not to just murder him on sight? What did he say/do to gain Tetsuo's trust?
You know how the aide is never given an actual name - what if it was because he never bothered to say it? So everything between him, Tetsuo, and the Empire goes down without anyone ever learning what his real name is?
On a smaller note - who tf is making all the drugs for the Empire? They produce such large quantities, holy shit. How many chemists do they have on their roster? Where do they find the time/resources for this? I want the logistics for this so bad, lol (same goes for whoever thought up Akira's little ceremonial uniform and Tetsuo's outfit).
It's kinda funny to me that even when presented with the opportunity to make himself the main leader - with the side bonus of Kaneda being pushed into nonexistence (at least until the end of Vol 4) - Tetsuo still agrees to be the #2 between him and Akira. Like I know it makes more sense for it to be that way on so many levels, but also...lol. I think it'd be even funnier if the idea to center the cult around Akira was the aide's idea, and Tetsuo tacitly went along with it.
