Hustling Across Illinois This is a westbound Amtrak National Limited in Altamont, Illinois. We know we’re on the former Pennsy due to the distinctive signal. That's an EMD F40PH on the point of the train, which means the legacy cars here have been retrofitted for HEP.

As I understand it, F O R D stands for "fix or repair daily". One image by Richard Koenig; taken in February of 1979.

Teutopolis, Illinois Here we see an eastbound Conrail era train, on the former Pennsylvania Railroad, just west of Teutopolis, Illinois. The position light signals here seem quite anachronistic—as does the jointed track (for an active main line such as this). One image by Richard Koenig; taken in June of 1979.

National Limited

Here's a shot of a westbound Amtrak National Limited on the former Pennsylvania Railroad (Penn Central/Conrail) in central Illinois. The train is two miles east of Teutopolis.

the mascot is the wooden shoes

really we have a shoe as our mascot

we once thought that our teacher was jewish

that was the most religious diversity we have ever had

we have 4 African Americans and 1 person who is 1/2 Filipino

that is a record high amount of diversity

we have 3 floors so getting to history class is terrible
