My hometown of Auburn is the Tevis finish line and the “Endurance Capital of The World”. Every summer I go home to make Tevis happen for other riders. I never thought I’d be one of them.

If I wasn’t from Auburn, who knows if I would have spent 30 years around horses and gritty people who taught me I can push myself past my limits.

(Also I wonder if I’m the first to be “other” at Tevis. I don’t think I have known any other others)

Thank you to Niña of Horse’s Honor Tack Store & Senior horse rescue in Auburn for sponsoring my Tevis entry. They are a (donated) used tack store thats profits benefit a sanctuary for retired horses. Their store off 49 is one of my favorite places back home where you can get tack dirt cheap. I always loved that they hang a pride flag in the back, even when it isn’t “cool” to do so.

And special thank you to Carolyn Hock of White Horse Ranch Endurance , who ended up immediately being my mentor when I came to live and work here after an eviction and gap in film/TV jobs. With her help I qualified for Tevis within 5 months of my rookie competitive season.
