I can't believe it is already August. 🌞 Glad we got to camp at least once this Summer. We usually camp in tents (real camping) but, we were both grateful to have the a/c from my parents 1970's-ish pop-up camper. She's a vintage. 😉 I don't know if we would have made it the whole weekend without it. I often think about how people survived In Texas before there was ever a/c. I'm going to venture to say that a lot of people died of heat stroke. Idk, the human race is a resilient bunch. I however am grateful for the a/c. 🙏 Halfway during the day on Saturday it got so hot outside that the a/c stopped working and was only blowing out hot air. So we had to get out of the camper and we ended up laying out our tarp under some trees and blowing up our tubes to lay in and used the hose we brought to hose ourselves down every 10 minutes for a few hours until the sun went down a little and we could use the a/c again. It was the only way to be outside. There was also a burn ban, so if you didn't have a little stove, you weren't cooking anything. No charcoal or wood fires allowed. That's not real camping either. The river is not very accessible from the campsites and was kind of a trek down the valley. I hadn't stayed at Guadalupe State Park since I was a kid and wasn't sure what to expect. The water was low and warm. I am definitely spoiled by our usual camping destination at the Frio River. The water is literally feet from the tent and the water is always cold and never too low. There are giant cypress trees that cover the sites, so the sun isn't blasting down directly on top of you. There are never burn bans. Plus we don't stay at a state park, so we get to bring our liquor (openly) and actually enjoy ourselves. But it was a new experience and I can say that we probably wouldn't stay at a state park again if we have the choice. The #FrioRiver is a bit further, but it's my favorite place in Texas. 📷 Now I just need to get some of the river photos and videos off the gopro. I got more pics using it because we were in the water. The only suitable place to be in 106° Texas heat. So that was our camping experience, this year. 😂 #texasgrammers #igtexas #lovelife #texascamp
