Had a weird dream, thought I’d share here.
I was about to do something, I don’t recall what. But Nergal (of Behemoth) stopped me and said, “Before you go, I need to touch up your makeup.” Because I guess in this dream world of mine he’s my makeup artist now?
He touched up my makeup and we went on our merry way.
Hail metal sister, what is your genre of choice?
It is gonna sound cheesty when I say it but I love metal across all spectrums!
(Though now that I think about it the power metal area might be the one of choice)
Thank you for the ask!
Missed Precious Metals tonight? No worries! Listen to the showreel on Mixlr!
thinkin about how when i was watching cradle of filth from the side of the stage i awkwardly waved at dani when he looked over
me: I'm a firm believer that we shouldn't worry so much about specific subgenre categorizing, we're all here to listen to metal and have a good time.
me: Honestly I'm so disgusted that you would think Viking Metal and Power Metal are the same thing. Get out of my house.
Local Detroit punk outfit SROS Lords are at it again. After months of writing and recording, they have come out with their new album, titles Rule. The follow-up to the EP For Gas and Vinyl (which can be downloaded on sroslords.tumblr.com), this album is 13 tracks packed with the signature heavy, muggy, and, “slimernetic” punk sound that SROS brings.
In true punk fashion, none of the songs gets any longer than two and a half minutes. Rule is a straightforward record that’s perfect for the alternative music lover that wants to wind down or take a relaxing drive.
Notable tracks:
“Beacon of Hope”: The opening riff of this song is something reminiscent of Scars On Broadway, and opens the album with a punch of energy. It sounds like something that would be playing at the climax of an inspirational superhero movie, as the song repeats, “You’re a beacon of hope!” It sounds like something you’d shout to Captain America from the sidelines of a battle, doesn’t it?
“Erica”: Rerecorded and resurrected from the FGAV EP, this song is an easy contender for third most melodic song on the album, and is tied for the longest song on the album with “Bury Me Alone.”
“Cleaner Love”: Also rerecorded from the FGAV EP. This version feels hazier than the previous, with a more garbled guitar solo and a faster tempo.
“Sniper”: Straightforward, tells a story from the point of view of a sniper. He “wants a clean, clean kill.” The line, “I gotta ask my mom if I can have the car tonight,” makes you laugh on the first listen, because it draws this super serious image of a sniper, then brings this contrast to that seriousness. A underlying, droning synthesizer ties the whole song together.
“Dragonflex”: This song opens up with a Sabbath-y guitar riff, and tells a mythic and mystic story just like Sabbth. It’s perfect for a Dungeons and Dragons session playlist!
“Bury Me Alone”: This is also one of the longest songs on the album, and the most melodic. The foggy haze that the whole album seems to have clears up in this song as it begs, “don’t bury me alone” over and over again. It’s bound to get stuck in your head, and feels kind of like a slow chiptune, but with lyrics.
You can listen to this album on Spotify and buy it on iTunes! That’s Rules by SROS Lords, everybody!
