Still working on the schedule consolidation. Excellent progress so far... I’m feeling good about this new direction. Here’s the general plan of action I’ve been following for the last couple months:
Consolidate plot doc from 3 years to 2 years (100% done)
Comb through the plot doc and tighten it up further (do this a couple times, ideally) (100% done)
Completely finish the “stubbed out” event code for the entire game’s daily rollover event (basically, a big conditional statement that sets and unsets flags for game events, cutscenes, schedule changes, etc and is accompanied by a short snippet of debug text describing the event that will take place on that day once we get to that stage) (100% done)
Update the numerous giant Excel spreadsheets containing the NPC schedules (100% done)
Update the existing completed Year 1 schedule code to use the new schedule structure (100% done)
Do some misc tidying (small bug fixes, adding a few new poses/locations/switches that step 3 brought to light, etc) (Working on this now...)
Fully implement Year 2 of the schedule code (this will be a large task)
Completely finish implementing Summer Y1 (events, quests, cutscenes, everything)
Prune and retool Ask About to be more manageable and completely finish it (essentially, changing it so that players can only ask about a dozen or so characters that an NPC actually has a relationship with, rather than being able to ask every NPC about every other NPC in a dialog combinatorial explosion... this was always kind of supposed to be the plan, but we the way Ask About dialog was structured made this difficult to stick to)
Busy busy busy, good progress lately, but as usual it’s mostly under the hood development stuff.
Thanks for sticking with us, as always!
