Question for women/fem-presenting people:

Do you feel the perception of all women/fem-presenting people rests entirely on your shoulders when you enter male dominated spaces (or just in general)?

I had to go to a local auto parts store that had the most confusing layout I’ve ever seen and I was shaking with fear of them seeing my confusion or uncertainty. I felt like I couldn’t let any incompetence show or else I was just another piece of evidence for them that women are stupid and don’t know anything about cars.

But like, I don’t know anything about cars and that shouldn’t be a big deal. Everyone has different interests and I shouldn’t have to feign confidence to be given respect. And my lack of knowledge definitely shouldn’t be used against all women.
