Hi, folks! Blog owner here. As we all must have noticed by now, Tumblr has implemented a certain change in its UI that, well, kind of severely cramps the style of gimmick blogs such as this one. After doing some thinking, I’ve realized I don’t really feel comfortable hijacking someone else’s post to identify an animal in it if it means I’ll be “stealing” reblogs and replies away from the OP just by adding a few lines of text to it.

Don’t worry, @mammalidentifier isn’t going anywhere and I have faith staff will realize how much the userbase dislikes the latest update and will eventually roll it back but, in the meantime, I’ll have to rethink how I’m going to run blog from now on, which might take a little while. So far, some solutions I’ve thought of are either seeking out and reblogging animal posts from long inactive blogs only or to personally ask the OPs of more recent posts for their permission to make additions to it but if anyone has other ideas, I’d be happy to hear them! Feel free to share your thoughts, either through commenting on this post or via asks.

Everyone should watch the Terror because it's a masterpiece on a million different levels but you should be aware of what it will do to you. I just watched an hourlong history channel documentary about a dude who tried to go to the North Pole on a submarine in 1931 and I was riveted. I read a 400 page book about the Franklin Expedition this summer and I thumbed through pictures of the Shackleton Expedition and was absolutely amped when the Endurance was found. I'm almost certainly going to cave and buy a rare Canadian map detailing the route of the rescue efforts to find the Franklin Expedition. This is who I am now.
