ripped text effect tutorial for anon
This is gonna be like a really cheesy tutorial but yeah whatever. Anyway this is gonna be the final product..
you need to open the pic you want to use then add any psd's, textures etc
if you're gonna be uploading it to tumblr you need to change the width of your pic to 500 pixels so go to Image > Image Size and something like this should pop up
Change the highlighted box to 500 and click ok, your picture should now have changed size.
Now you need to add a new layer go to Layer > New > Layer and this should pop open, click OK
Then you need select the rectangle tool here
Then draw however many rectangles you want so if you want to do just one long box for your word or sentence draw one where you want it or draw separate boxes like I have here.
Then using the boxes as a guide line add the text, I'm using Mongolian Bati for the text and the size is 20pt, I haven't added the new text packs I downloaded so I'm using a really basic.
Then using the polygonal lasso tool just draw random shapes around the text, it doesn't matter if it's messy or goes out side the box just as long as you're happy with it.
when you've gone around the whole shape it should look a little like this with the flashing border, then you need to use the paint bucket tool
and click inside the random shape you just made around the word, If a circle with a line through it appears when you hover over the shape click anyway and then this will appear
Click ok and then try again, this time it should work. Now you need to delete the box you created first so you only have your random shape and the text.
in the bottom right corner in the layers section select the first box you made and hit delete on your keyboard
so now it should look like this, now you need to repeat step 7 on each box until you have this.
You don't have to do this but I think it looks a lot better and just gives the picture a little extra something.
Again go to the bottom right corner and click the box that says Layer 1
then click the small fx button below that, click on satin and this should pop up, this should pop up, these are my current settings so if you're just starting you should use these but you can always alter the opacity percentage.
yeah and heres the final picture, this tutorial sucks ass but you know, If it did help please like or reblog and I'll always do tutorials for anyone who wants them, I'm sorry it was so long and confusing but yeah.....
