oh god. the gradual progression from him wanting friends, to getting all these tasks and railing against the injustice of it all, to fully succumbing, giving up and letting go and deciding, they want a villain? he'll give them one all right

joel's entire episode being him building while people keep dying in the background is such a joel thing to do

it's the way that all the other winners are portrayed as being traumatised by their win, but i honestly think that scar winning is going to be the push he needs to finally start to properly heal

finally started watching the wild life episodes. from the progression of joel's relationship to having allies in the first five seasons, to his whole friendship schtick so far in wild life - on a meta level i'd say he has one of the most linear character development arcs of everyone in the life series, at least to my knowledge

love how "normal", for lack of a better word, joel has been about building in wild life so far. like in previous seasons it was more of this forced, gritted-teeth "ignorance is bliss" kind of thing, as is joel's mo, whereas now it's just. yeah he likes building a lot
