It's difficult to know what to write about even though there is so much to write about! A trip up to London saw Fashion and Fashion Marketing and Media Students gaze upon Textiles Forum, the Horst exhibition at the V&A, viewing fabrics galore on Berwick and Goldhawk Street, and shop reporting along Regent and Carnaby Street. Oh, and a sneaky visit to the Fashion & Textiles Museum by 10 of us to check out the Chanel to Westwood Knitwear exhibition. Exhausting? Yes, but a buzzing experience that generated so many ideas and a wealth of knowledge has been brought back.
Whilst visiting the Textile Forum we were introduced to a fantastic charity the Fashion & Textile Children's Trust who's aim is to support the education of the children of people in the UK fashion and textile industry. They have been doing great work since 1853!

Textile Forum
I then made my way up to South Molton Lane near Bond Street tube to visit the Textile Forum, which is a fabric show for designers and suppliers. This was the first fabric show I've ever been to and found it very useful. There were two rooms filled with many different fabric companies trying to sell their fabrics to you. You take a look at the samples they have hanging up and order samples or pieces of fabric for manufacture.
Some companies present their collection in look books, or just hanging up. With a wide selection from silks, shirting and wools to knitwear and bridal wear. It is the equivalent to the Pitti Uomo fabric show in Milan which is much more renowned.
