how a bundle of yarn evokes feelings/ brings back memories/ tells a story
A week at the Textilfachschule Zürich STF. A folder full of theory new knowledge and little textile samples, classes loosened up with hands-on exercises. Always touching the fabrics, allowed to cut and match and try.
Since I didn’t know much about the whole textile world I am happy that the program started with basic knowledge and tried to focus on the role and function of textiles in interior spaces. The teachers were all well prepared for their class, all in their own way. I was surprised how they brought in multimedia such as many videos for further explanation and inspiration, discussions, little group work. It came a bit as a surprise that they actually had no clue what our program was all about and how much we already knew.
Nevertheless, the school made an elaborate impression on me. The teachers all had a different background and work in the textile / interior field next to teaching. I feel this is always a great value for us. Therefore we should have asked more about their experiences. But the schedule was pretty tight so we were kept busy anyway.
