In celebration of the wonderful work of Macmillan Cancer Support we had some very special guests in the audience today. We were lucky enough to have some of the incredible Macmillan nurses and staff as well as people helped through the most difficult times by the work they do.

If someone told me on the day I started Chemo that exactly a year later I would be appearing on Loose Women with Edward I would have pissed my pants!
All thanks to the wonderful charity MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT. We were raising awareness for the fabulous ‘Text Santa’ campaign over the Christmas period with the money raised going towards Macmillan, one of the 3 charities involved. Over 2 Million pounds was raised for them. Happy face.
Being diagnosed is a minefield.
How are you going to financially support yourself when you’re going through gruelling treatment and unable to work?
What happens if you’re self-employed?
How are you going to pay your rent?
The last thing you want to think about is money when all you’re trying to focus on is surviving.
Macmillan offer support in every area. I told them about my financial concerns and they immediately booked me in to see a support worker. Cathy was amazing. She went through all the confusing paper work (chemo brain meant I could concentrate for about one minute at a time!) and she helped me get a grant from Macmillan and sorted out my Employment Support Allowance.
If I could change one thing, I would have contacted Macmillan as soon as I was diagnosed instead of 4 months into treatment.
