Hey there Peacy, just a question for you when you have a moment. I was following your tutorial (post 186111105159) about separate texture packages. How can I reference 1 texture when they are all the same? e.g. Item 1, Item 2, and Item 3 have individual textures for the colors they come in. Then they all use another texture that is exactly the same. As it is now, the texture that is the same is repeated 3 times. How could I have them use just the one? Thank you!
If they have 2 textures with one not changing there is an easy way to do it, but takes a few extra steps. I use this for windows, doors and kitchen counts predominantly because of the second texture that gets cloned, but i don’t need the duplicates. Here are the steps:
Make sure you only have only one swatch and save the package.
Next, reopen the package and go to the warehouse tab. Find the image file that is going to be shared between all the swatches and batch export it. This will export the image with it’s identification string as it’s name. Don’t use regular export option.
Once batch exported, delete the resource in the warehouse. Save and exit to the main menu of S4S.
Reopen the package file. The texture will be missing from the preview, only because s4s can’t find it to render it. This is fine. Add your swatches you need and save.
Then batch import the image file from earlier from the warehouse tab. Save and close the package file.
Reopen package file and if every step was done right, you will see the texture is now shared between all swatches.
Now you can clone that base file using my previous method for texture linking to have the rest of your items reuse the texture.
