agatha, cordelia, did you do any fun for Halloween? any spooks and scares in the nurses office?

"We just got to re-watch Frankenstein! It was fun :} — this movie always is!… But… We could had some deco around here, you know? Some spiders nd webs on the walls, maybe a little zombie hidden somewhere… Wearing costumes together… Most of them aren't much interested in planning holidays i think...

But we had fun! Watched Frankenstein with Cordelia, Medic gave me a very big sack of candies after coming back from the mercenary's meeting (they might last till smissmas XD )… Nothing to complain about, i think! :}"

"Working among these peepaws is always spooks and scares, ha!

We got to have a day off from them at least (some reunion for god knows what kind of mission preparing), so we watched the Frankenstein movie without any kind of annoyance! Ágatha even came wearing a different type of coat today — later on i figured out it's the same one the doctor uses in the film. The only person with some whimsical inside here, for sure. If i knew beforehand (and if my age allowed), I would get some fun clothing as well… Maybe a vampire of sorts, or other well know creature.

A very chill holiday, indeed… But not a difficult metric to achieve, sincerely. Not since the Halloween i got transformed into a werewolf, but that is another whole history... Agh, now I'm angry — that would have been the perfect costume! Would cause a lot of scared faces, at least, I bet they still remember as freshly i do (specially Angus and his arm, ha!)… Could have helped into putting some sense at these peepaw's heads, what missed chance!"

"Hey, Cordelia! Check this out!"

The coily-haired girl entered the infirmary, her red flip phone in high spirits. "What is this, Ágatha, dear?" the lady in the white and blue uniform wanted to know.

"A mercenary contest… Like, the mercenary contest!"

Cordelia grabbed her reading glasses, trying to see the small print on the screen.

"Contest? Like a beauty contest?"

"It's more of a popularity contest! It used to be organized by TFI, and the winner was hired to work on the team, or got a raise if they were already a member! These days I don't know how it works, but someone is organizing this one with that same vibe!"

"I see, I see… And you're thinking about running, aren't you? Good luck, I'll be rooting for you!" Cordelia kindly handed the phone back to the girl.

"Haha, I've participated a few times! I never won, but I always came pretty close to the finals… Maybe because I was a kid, hahaha! Good times… But actually, I was wondering if you'd like to participate with me."

"Me?"

"Yes! They also accept duos, look!"

Cordelia looked at her phone again, and then turned back to the task she was doing previously —organizing medications in a drawer. "…I'm flattered you want my help… But I think it would just get in the way… I'm not someone interesting, with much to tell. I'm just an old nurse."

"Are you kidding?!" Ágatha said, unconvinced. "People would love to hear what you have to say! You can also show off your telescope, your old photos… I'll set up a profile where people can ask us questions, you'll see!"

The woman looked at the girl in front of her—her youthful demeanor, the sparkle in her eyes. Such striking features, and so easy to miss in a place like that. "Well… Then I say these people get their heads together this year, because you're the one who most deserves a victory like this!"

They both smiled at each other. Until someone knocked on the door.

They didn't need to look to know who it was, already accustomed to the rhythm and power of the sound. Outside the base, he was nicknamed "Classic Heavy," a name that harkens back to ancient times. Inside there, they knew him as Angus.

Cordelia returned to her work, while Ágatha prepared to leave the room, but not before the old lady murmured one last thing to the girl. "Truth be told, anything will be more fun than spending time with him."

Ágatha only had time to nod before Angus took the infirmary space for his daily checkup.
