Klaus had run out of cleaning supplies in his office. It was just a quick trip to the supply closet to grab some more off-brand cleaners.
When he opens the door, he gets more than his cleaners. There’s…a boy and Misty inside the closet.
Klaus blinks. “Are you lost?” he asks, wondering who this boy could be. A family member of one of the mercenaries? A child that somehow wandered onto the base? It’s strange to see Misty perched on the boy’s shoulders – as far as he knows, the cat only does that with Russell. Come to think of it, that boy does resemble Russell. Perhaps it’s a younger brother of his.
Russell has the briefest spot of hope that maybe he hadn’t been spotted and whoever was in the hallway would leave.
But that’s quickly dashed when he hears the footsteps move closer. He frantically gazes around, but then freezes again.
“Um, uh, ehehe, uh, ehehe, I uh, I guess...” he said, shrugging. Well, wherever he is, he isn’t supposed to be here. That would rule out his mother leaving him. It must have been David, Travis, or Bradley. Assholes... “I was uh, I was uh, ehe, I was just looking for the way out...”
Misty looks up at Klaus and gives him a delighted ‘meee’ on seeing him.
“Pl... please, d-don’t be mad, I uh, I really didn’t mean to be here...” he said, “I’ll, uh, I’ll leave, and I’ll keep this all real, real, ehe, real quiet...”
