Rey x Reader (The Force Awakens)
Prompt: “I saved you a seat.”
Great. You were so going to be late.
As was always your luck, your alarm malfunctioned, and you only now just woke up, mere minutes before the meeting was due to start. You were up and out your bedclothes in an instant, washing and dressing as quickly as you could; you had no time to do your hair, so you were forced to just leave it a tangled matt. You cringed. General Organa wasn't going to like that. Pulling on your boots as you left your quarters, you let out a startled cry as you tripped over yourself. A few pilots and engineers who shared your corridor let out a snicker at your situation, but all you could do was send them a pathetic glare and a rude hand gesture. Not that you really meant it, of course – and they knew it, for a few even returned the favour.
You were running now, down the maze of winding hallways as fast as your legs would carry you. Although you knew it would be impossible, you just hoped that the meeting hadn't started yet; it was going to be embarrassing as all hell to go in there late.
And then you saw your reflection.
The mess on your head was honestly atrocious, and you knew for sure someone would say something about it. But, you were in luck (you supposed), for there was a spare hair tie tucked into your back pocket. You thanked your lucky stars and pulled your hair into something resembling a ponytail.
By the time you made it to the meeting room, you were out of breath, panting and red in the face from the rush to make it there. As you tried to regain control of your breathing, you quietly opened the doors, hoping no one would notice you.
The meeting had started, and General Organa was beginning to explain part of her plans when you entered. A few heads turned to look at you. The General was one of them, eyebrow raised slightly, but she didn't bring attention to you. You caught Rey's eye through the crowd, and her face lit up with delight.
Slipping between a few people, you made your way over to her as carefully as you could.
“Hey [Name],” She whispered close to your ear, her dark eyes returning to General Organa, “I saved you a seat.”
The girl patted the chair next to her gently, and you sat down.
“Thanks.” Your murmur was soft and sincere.
Between you, her fingers intertwined with yours.
