its taken me a bit but she’s finnaly ready! ^^ meet the darling daughter of overlord and trepan Empress personality wise, you can imagine she is the robot equivalent to the real life historical empress herself, Cleopatra strong, confident, and absolutely brimming with knowledge and intelligence, she is a figure you do not want to cross. her father gave her the powerful name for a reason after all. in her downtime tho, she does enjoy the finer things in life such as theater, art, and music. as well as having a particularly fine pallet when it comes to the energon she consumes, she does however have a soft spot for sweets and if you can guess the correct sweet that is her favorite, your more then likely to stay in her circle of “friends” her alt mode is a smaller and sleeker jet built for aerodynamic top speeds and she has dabbled in mnemosurgery to gain the upper hand in her plans (ps, merry christmas @pastelpaperplanes ^^)

I’ve messed around with some tfa redesigns of these two a couple of times now–but here’s their final look >:D
Trepan ofc sports his lanky toothpick of a frame and needles that simply cant be practical, and Lordie is just about as GIANT and smarmy as ever lmao. These two will get their little role in my CF au, but for now we at least get to see just what kind of mix and match their daughter, Apex, may take on ehehe

hmmmm they may love eachother unconditionally, but both know full well that the other could take advantage of the other’s weaknesses if they really wanted to (which they will never, it was in their vows,, but like it’s important to at least acknowledge)
Trepan is a monoformer, meaning that not only can he not really run or defend himself if he were in immediate danger, but he also has a high price on person seeing as monoformers are rare and ‘unfortunate beautiful creatures’.
(In a society where Form over Function still thrived, monoformers surprisingly weren’t cast to the side for being ‘useless’ but rather they were seen as rare, living, trophy mecha and only the high, mighty, and wealthy could afford to keep one in their company for whatever uses they wished of them)
Trepan took protection under Overlord in the exchange of his teaching his skill set with mnemosurgery, as well as his services in muting Overlord’s (luckily already malfunctioning) kill switch he was fitted with after his Triple Changer reformation with the Autobots. Trepan found himself guarded by one of the most large and powerful bots out there, there’s no way that any high caste polition or sleazy bounty hunter could snatch him up without the risk of Overlord surprising them as his midday snack.
Now Overlord on the other hand, while he knew there was a way to get the Autobot imbedded kill switch in his processor ehhh put to sleep, there was no way to actually remove the damned thing without it setting off and finishing its job. Overlord needed Trepan.
Trepan have been as selective and elusive as he already was being a very talented Dead End doctor and a monoformer, Overlord offered to take Trepan into the good graces of the Decepticon faction AND place him under his high rank protection. Needless to say both mechs didn’t exactly let it show just how much they were relived when the other agreed.
Now while their first meeting was entirely transactional, over the decades the two grew to have a steady, strong, and delightfully wild relationship before Overlord suggested conjunx ritus.
Both know that Overlord could potentially sell Trepan off to the highest bidder or simply use him as his own personal doctor with nothing in exchange, but Overlord wouldn’t. Both know that Trepan could reactivate the sleeping codes on Overlord’s kill switch and bring him down with a swift flick of his needles, but Trepan wouldn’t.
Both have the means to destroy the other, but they love each other too much to even consider placing the other in harm’s way—that being from their own hand or not.
lmao but yeah Trepan is teeny Overlord has to watch his step or he’ll have a TrePANCAKE 😂😂
I just read your little snippet on Trepan and monoformers, and I really like this unique twist on them! This led me to wonder about another well known monoformer, Krok, and his gang. Do they have a place in your universe as well? :) big fan of your work.

And yes my spin on ‘forged’ monoformers and Trepan’s little story is a bit different compared to Krok’s. Krok became a monoformer by choice! Trepan did not have that choice since he was the Allspark forged him as a monoformer.
Forged monoformers are rare, and why they are seen as unfortunate in the eyes of the Autobots, they are still highly sought after as living trophies for their rarity rather than having them disposed of. Forged monoformers are seen as meek, they can do no harm with their lack of an alt mode or a transformable weapon, their jobs were to simply stand by the Noble or Politican who wanted them and look pretty.
Now Krok and the rest of his team,,I mean as far as I know those characters have not been mentioned/used in the tfa verse SO— I’d just like to think they’re still doing their same deal in IDW—scavenging ruins, old battlegrounds, ship graveyards, or whatever else they might find. They’re still their same band of misfits doing their thing outside the norm of the factions.
Krok in particular tho being a monoformer by CHOICE,,, no that would definitely label him as an outcast. I headcanon that in tfa there are certain inner workings of a Cybertronian that cannot simply be replaced, the T-cog being one of them. For a solider to get their own T-cog destroyed in combat would be devastating, they’d likely be given honorable discharge when offered, or they’d take a spot at a desk job of sorts, either way those who have their T-cog ‘taken’ from them are still held in high regard bc they sacrificed that ability to the Autobot cause.
As for those who deliberately choise to sabatoge or or have their own removed as to escape maybe a draft or perhaps make a statement, now THAT would absolutely be frowned upon and that bot would be ostracized. To mutilate your own transforming function would be possibly the lowest of lows a bot could commit in the post Great War Autobot society.
I hope that kinda clarifies things! Forged monoformers, even though they’re anomalies and by definition a glitch in the overall view of ‘all cogs in one great machine’, were prized for their uniqueness. Monoformers by CHOICE were quite literally spat upon, and monoformers by ‘sacrifice’ are respected.
