Update on Thrown For A Loop

Hello everyone!

It’s been ... a few months since I’ve talked about this WIP. I wanted to be honest and say a few things:

- I’m still working on this story. I’m not giving it up. I’m still very attached to my OCs and I want to share them and their story with the world.

- If you’ve been following this blog, then you will know that I’ve very recently started a fanfiction. This fandom that I’m writing for, I honestly only remembered it as a passing thought somewhere in the middle of last year. Then it started popping up in my head more frequently, until I began to see flashes of scenes in my head and occasionally fantasise about them. It eventually got to the point where I had enough of those scenes floating around that I thought “why not?” and made a one shot for one of them.

Fast forward to today where I currently have over 43k words written for the first fic in a planned series of 6 stories, about 2 of the next stories in this series planned out in rough detail, the beginnings and endings and bits and pieces of fully fleshed out scenes from the rest of the stories thought up and written down in bullet points, and 20+ pages worth of worldbuilding and main character details and side character backstories and side plots and what-have-you scattered across various documents that I’ve had no other choice but to collectively dedicate to this series because this idea was literally the only thing I daydreamed about for 5 months whenever I was tired and miserable with studying and wanted something fun to get lost in when I went to sleep at night. It just ... it kept growing and growing and growing and now I’m a little bit overwhelmed (but also! excited!! very excited!!! it’s like a drug)

I ... really, really did not expect to fall this deep into a fandom I was in over a decade ago. And since I have all this drive for it right now I want to wrestle with this a little more and get some of the hype out of my system so that maybe I can spend less of my every waking moment thinking about it.

- My plan right now is to complete the first fic in this series before I hop back to this WIP and complete it too. Again, I adore the OCs I’ve created and I don’t want to abandon them, but when I write for them I want to be fully focused on doing it without another story going on in the background.

There is one good thing of note that has come from writing this fic series: my writing style has gotten monumentally better, not to mention my story planning, worldbuilding, and character building skills as well - I am still reeling from all the changes I can see between the writing I’m doing now versus what I had going on in my second draft - and I’m not even half way through this fic yet. By the end of this I’m sure that the quality of my writing will have improved even more, and then I’ll be able to give all of you a story that’s better than it could have been half a year ago and also maybe if I finish this fic that I impulsively started then I just might be able to convince myself that I am in fact capable of finishing something for once in my life

TL:DR: I’m still going to write this story, but I’m going to complete my other story first so it will be a few months before I start talking about this story again. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Update: TFAL Character Introductions

Hello everyone! It’s been a while and I have a question for you all

So far I’ve properly introduced five of my main characters, and I’m happy with them. There are seven more characters I have left to introduce and I’m almost done making the moodboards for them. But for their formal introductions, I’m at a loss of what to put in them

These characters that I’m going to introduce next have a unique role to play in my story, and so I made the moodboards different from the ones I’ve done so far in order to reflect that, and I thought I ought to change up the intros too. In their intros I could include things like: their physical descriptions, or some of their emotional descriptors instead, or what traits they embody, what role they’ll play in the story, or even just an “excerpt” (meaning I’m not so far in the rewriting that I can do a proper excerpt for all of them so for some of them I might twist things around a little to make it fit just right). Or any combination of the above considering just what exactly they are I can’t include anything much about their families, at least for most of them

I wanted to ask if any of you have any suggestions for what I could do, or if there’s anything you’d especially like to see. All input is welcome so please feel free to contribute.

Announcement!

I’ve recently created a sideblog @ohlooksheswriting-wips where I will be posting all about my current WIP Thrown For A Loop, and anything else related to my writing.

I love this blog that I currently have and it’s an excellent resource and place of inspiration for me, but as far as posting up original content is concerned it feels too disorganized and crowded and since I don’t know anything about working with html or setting up some useful navigation facilities I’ve instead decided to create an entirely different blog to better suit my current needs.

So I’ll be talking more about my writing over there. And a few months from now when I have more time I’ll do the writing related tag games, drabbles, and ask games over there as well (miscellaneous tag games and get-to-know-the-blogger games will probably end up here just fyi).

I also have some very good news! For my WIP Thrown For A Loop I’ve got some character introductions and moodboards planned out. In the coming week I’ll be posting up one OC per day for the next few days and they’ll all be posted up on my side blog. I’m really looking forward to sharing them with all of you! ^_^

For those who have asked to be added to my WIP taglist, thank you so, so much for sticking with me all this way. My life is a bit hectic at the moment and progress will be slow for some time to come but I hope that I can bring out more content and in the near future start posting up chapters of my story for all of you to read and enjoy.
