Okay, I finally understood what is wrong with whole narrative of TFATWS.

Silly me, I thought that the main character of the series will be Sam. Maybe a bit of Bucky.

But no. The main character is the shield. Whole story starts with the shield and will probably end up with the shield.

It's like the lord of the rings, really. There are several characters with main focus, but whole center of narrative was the ring. Same thing with TFATWS: we touch other characters's story just barely, just a scratch on the top.

But shield gets a proper story.

Maybe it's good, because shield represents Steve's legacy.

But when I watch the series called The Falcon and Winter Soldier, I would love to have them as the main narrative.

He squints, “Uh, 104 I think.”

“When’s your birthday?” He freezes, his memories a swirling morass, “March 10th, 1917” He says finally, only catching himself before he starts rattling off his rank and serial number like a prison-of-war.

Sam whips toward him, “That was last fucking month man. Why didn’t you say something?”

“So you could try to plan a party between taking out Walker and the Flag Smashers?”

“Oh, we’re gonna celebrate,” Sam mutters, “Dumbass.”

“Sam.”

“You, shut the hell up, my boyfriend will be celebrated. Balloons, ice cream, cake, End of story.”

Fake boyfriend.

“Fine.”

He’s learned that when Sam gets that look, it isn’t ever worth the argument, “Didn’t they freeze you a bunch? To keep you all young and juicy?”

“What?”

“Back in the day,” Sam slides sideways to look at him, over the back of the couch, “They started freezing you in ’45—“

“You been googling me again?” Bucky effortlessly pops over the arm of the couch to slide in beside him.

They have more than enough furniture now, but lately they both usually end up on the couch, with Alpine ogling them from her chair.

“Yep.” He continues unashamedly, “then you got blipped—“

“—So did you.”

“And I’m 37,” His eyes go wide, “You’re not even 30 dude.”

“I am one-hundred and four years old—“

“Bruh, with wiggle room you’re like maybe thirty-one—"

He’s laughing, Bucky’s frowning, the sound echoes pleasantly in their apartment, “Am I a cradle robber?” He wheezes, leaning into Bucky’s space, “You like your older men eh Barnes?”
