It's not my usual style of post since I usually just post drawings, but I'm here to bring forward a vague theory about 'The Freak Circus'. We already know that the carnies aren't human, but how old are they?
Well, we know that their life didn't begin in the human circus, and since in the flashback, Columbina seems like an adult. Maybe early 20s, assuming they came to the circus at about the 20-30 range, and seeing as the golden age of circuses was the 1870s to 1930s (1960s if you're pushing it), assuming the circus story took place at the early-ish end of the spectrum, the 1870s, we can assume they were around 20-30 in 1870, meaning they could've been born possibly between 1840 and 1850.
But what time does the current game take place? That's kind of complicated. The creator mentioned in one ask that it's modern-ish times but a little earlier than the present year. Looking at the flat-screen in MC's apartment, I approximate the year is 2007 or later since that was the time accessible, affordable flat-screens became popular.
So with that math, we can approximate the carnies, which are possibly between 157 and 167, depending on if it was 1840 or 1850. Christ, that's old but not as old as I thought! Not sure how correct this is, as maybe the story took place in an alternate timeline completely different from our world, but yeah! This is what I've got for the timeline so far, but of course take it with a healthy dose of salt. But wait! Alternative theory!
Commedia dell'arte was first created in the 1540s and then first performed in 1551, so if we assume that their timeline matches up with the real-life Commedia dell'arte, it makes them much older. Again, assuming at the time of 1551 they were about 20-30 means that they would now be between 476 and 486! Which is much older!
So yeah. Depending on if their ages match up with circus popularity or Commedia dell'arte popularity, they could be anywhere from 157 all the way to 486 (of course, this isn't accounting for them probably not all being the same age, but whatever, do with this theory what you will). Also, this means Jester sooooo needs a vacation. Poor guy's been a single mom for possibly about 500 years. Oof, he deserves a nice retirement party and maybe a wine night.
Also, since this is so long, when I write this in French, it'll be its own post.
