The Tumbler is a "simple physics simulation/meditation/relaxation experiment" created by Andrew Hoyer which has left me totally enraptured. This beautiful code experiment uses a series of shapes wh...
Track 63 - Because It Is Time (2009) [as Isomer Transition]
It feels really good to put these tracks out there like this. All of that work, and time spent, and I finally get to share them with the world.
I had sent most of these around to all of the usual suspects (labels and DJs) and got some good feedback, but no one wanted to put them out. Looking and listening back it makes sense -- these aren't really DJ tracks, they are much more artist tracks that could be grouped on to an album. Perhaps at the end of this series I'll sort the tracks into discrete 'releases' and put them out on a weekly basis on Boomkat or something...
The choppy vox style on this track is something that I developed back in 2009 using a combo of samples from movies, follow actions, and an assortment of gating plugins. It was a bit of an algorithmic exploration at generative construction of rhythmic track components. At the time there weren't a lot of tracks that did this, now I am hearing it all over. Not sure what that means, but it seems I am on to something with that sound and style.
can't wait to watch later; from The Fox is Black: "What if, on any random day, you were suddenly strike by a giant meteor… that no one saw? And let’s say the meteor spatially moved your physical form 91cm away from where it should be? Would anyone believe you? Or would everyone think you’re crazy?
That’s the idea behind this short film by Jeremy Clapin called Skhizein. It’s kind of an odd story, but that’s also why it’s so charming. Plus the animation is extremely well done, especially the details of the main character charting out his perceived world in his apartment. Just watch it, you’ll understand."
Ben Barrett-Forrest’s “The History of Typography” video, really neat short historical video. h/t The Fox is black

Don’t be generous with my faults, I’ll be More like a woman, less like a lady If you want me to And I’m younger than you are? You’ll see You’re just like me in fast forward Not a day too soon I may be a baby, but not forever I’ll do anything, don’t you want me to? One day I’ll be a man and old Face like a maze, tending to our own If you want it so Every one’s a dog till they find someone they love I’ll do anything at all Don’t you want me to? With jealousy as my witness You know I do it best There’s no other way to say it Why don’t love me yet? I may be a baby, but not forever I’ll do anything, don’t you want me to?
