The morning light slipped through the curtains in thin golden lines, warming the side of Yujin’s face. She blinked lazily, eyes still heavy with sleep, and turned toward the other side of the bed — only to find it empty.
The sheets were still warm. He’d been up for a while.
That was strange. Y/n was never the first one awake.
The girl frowned softly, rubbing her eyes before noticing the faint sound of movement coming from outside the bedroom — clinking dishes, soft music, and the faint scent of something sweet and buttery.
A slow smile spread across her lips.
“Oh no,” she muttered under her breath, voice husky with sleep. “Did I forget our anniversary?”
For a second, her heart dropped. Yujin quickly sat up, her messy hair sticking in every direction as she mentally ran through the calendar. It’s not December yet… right? But then again, her boyfriend was terrible at hiding surprises, and the smell of pancakes and strawberries floating in was a dead giveaway that something special was happening.
The girl slid off the bed, still in her oversized T-shirt — Y/n's T-shirt, actually — and padded to the door barefoot.
When she peeked around the corner, the sight nearly made her laugh.
Her boyfriend stood in the kitchen, wearing an apron that definitely didn’t fit his usual “cool and collected” image, flipping pancakes with questionable success. A vase of daisies — her favorite — sat on the counter, and a tray of food was neatly arranged on the table. There were even candles.
“Good morning, my sunshine,” Y/n greeted, turning to her with that soft, teasing grin she loved and hated all at once. “Happy special day.”
“Special day?” Yujin tilted her head, still half-smiling. “Wait— it’s our special day?”
Y/n raised an eyebrow, playing innocent. “You forgot?”
The girl's heart skipped. “No! No, of course not. I totally remembered.”
“Really?” Y/n drawled, leaning against the counter. “Then what day is it?”
“Uhh…” Yujin blinked, trying to stall. “It’s… our anniversary?”
The boy smirked, crossing his arms. “Is that your final answer?”
The girl bit her lip, eyes darting between her boyfriend and the suspiciously fancy breakfast setup. “It’s either that or… You finally learned how to make pancakes without burning them.”
Y/n laughed softly — that quiet, chest-deep kind of laugh that always made her shoulders loosen. “Close enough,” he said, carrying the plate over to his girlfriend. “Sit. Eat.”
Yujin sat down, still confused but touched. Everything about the morning felt soft, deliberate — Y/n's movements, his gaze, the way he brushed his thumb over her cheek before setting the tray down. He even poured her coffee just how she liked it, adding the tiny milk swirl she always found cute.
Her heart melted a little.
“Okay, this is adorable,” the girl said with a small pout. “But I really can’t remember what today is. You’re sure it’s not our anniversary?”
Y/n leaned closer, voice dropping low. “Oh, it’s definitely special.”
Yujin’s face warmed, her mind immediately jumping to romantic conclusions. She reached across the table, touching her boyfriend's hand. “You’re being weirdly sweet today.”
“Just showing you some love,” the boy replied smoothly.
The girl's suspicious side kicked in again. “You never just ‘show me love’ without a reason.”
But before Y/n could answer, a sudden thump and a burst of muffled giggles echoed from the hallway.
Both their heads snapped toward the noise.
Yujin narrowed her eyes. “...Was that—?”
Before she could finish, the door burst open and the five familiar faces came spilling in — Wonyoung, Rei, Gaeul, Liz, and Leeseo — her friends were all trying (and failing) to hold in their laughter. Wonyoung had her phone out, recording.
“ You actually fell for it!” Wonyoung said in between laughs.
Yujin’s eyes widened. “Wait— what?!”
Liz nearly doubled over. “She really thought it was your anniversary!”
Rei clapped her hands. “Mission complete! You did a good job, Y/n!”
Y/n tried to keep a straight face, but the grin was already tugging at his lips. “I told you I’m a convincing actor.”
Yujin turned to her boyfriend in disbelief, mouth falling open. “You were in on this?”
The boy raised his hands in mock surrender. “They made me! Said it was for team bonding.”
Gaeul smirked. “And it totally worked.”
Leeseo giggled, holding up a confetti popper. “We were going to surprise you with this after he said the ‘special day’ line, but you looked too happy to interrupt.”
Yujin covered her face, groaning into her palms. “I can’t believe you all— I woke up thinking I forgot something important!”
Y/n walked up behind her, looping his arms gently around her waist. The girl was still pouting, cheeks red but not really angry. “Hey,” he murmured, resting his chin on his girlfriend's shoulder. “You still got breakfast out of it.”
“That’s not the point,” Yujin said, trying to sound serious but failing when her boyfriend kissed her temple.
“Mm, maybe not. But seeing your face light up was worth it.”
That made her pause. Slowly, Yujin turned in her boyfriend's arms, eyes meeting his. “You really went along with their prank just for that?”
Y/n smiled, a little softer now. “Yeah. Guess I’d do anything to make you smile like that.”
For a moment, everything else faded — the laughter, the teasing, the chaos of the girls snapping pictures and squealing about how “romantic” it looked.
Yujin stared up at her boyfriend, caught somewhere between exasperated and endeared. “You’re impossible,” she whispered, but she leaned in anyway, pressing a quick, shy kiss to his cheek.
Wonyoung immediately shrieked, “Aha! Caught on camera!”
“Wonyoung!” Yujin protested, hiding her face again, but Y/n just laughed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
“Happy fake anniversary, babe,” he teased.
The girl sighed dramatically, but couldn’t hide her smile anymore. “Next year, I’m getting all of you back for this.”
From across the room, Rei winked. “We’ll be ready.”
Bonus Scene:
The dorm was quiet again. The chaos of laughter, confetti, and Wonyoung’s relentless teasing had faded hours ago, as everyone left the apartment still laughing. Y/n was stretched out on the couch, half-dozing, the soft glow of the TV painting the room in muted colors.
The boy's eyes were starting to close when he heard the faint sound of footsteps. Slow, deliberate, almost too quiet.
Then— “Still awake?”
Y/n opened one eye to find his girlfriend leaning against the doorframe, arms folded. Her hair was loose now, falling over her shoulders, and she was wearing one of his hoodies — far too big for her, sleeves hanging past her hands.
“Barely,” the boy murmured, a tired grin forming. “Didn’t expect you to come out of your cave so soon.”
Yujin scoffed softly. “Please. You think I’d let you sleep peacefully after what you pulled this morning?”
Y/n chuckled, rubbing his eyes. “Ah, so the revenge begins.”
The girl crossed the room slowly, the corners of her mouth curling. “You made me think I forgot our anniversary,” she said, stopping right in front of her boyfriend. “Do you know how embarrassing that was?”
The boy tilted his head. “You looked adorable when you panicked.”
“Not helping your case,” Yujin warned, but there was a spark of amusement in her tone. She climbed onto the couch beside the boy, tucking one leg under herself and watching him with mock seriousness.
“So,” Y/n said, feigning innocence. “What’s the punishment?”
“Hmm…” The girl pretended to think, tapping a finger on her chin. “Maybe I should make you cook for me every morning for a week. Or tell the girls some embarrassing story about you.”
“Pretty sure they already know all of those,” Y/n countered.
“True.” Yujin grinned, leaning a little closer. “Then maybe I’ll just do this.”
Before the boy could react, she reached out and flicked his forehead — hard enough to make him wince.
“Ow— hey!”
“That’s for tricking me.”
Y/n rubbed the spot, laughing. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
“Obviously,” Yunjin said, smirking. Then her voice softened. “But seriously… thank you.”
Y/n blinked. “For what? The prank?”
“To go along with it,” the girl admitted. “You didn’t have to. I know the girls probably dragged you into it, but you still made it feel… special.”
Her tone shifted from playful to something gentler. The kind of softness Yujin rarely showed when the cameras were off — the quiet vulnerability that peeked through the confident leader act.
Y/n reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “If it made you smile, it was worth it.”
For a long second, Yujin didn’t say anything. Just looked at Y/n — really looked — like she was memorizing his face at that moment. The corners of her lips twitched upward again.
“Still not off the hook, though,” she said quietly.
Y/n laughed under his breath. “Didn’t think I would be.”
Yujin then tilted her head, eyes glinting with mischief. “You know what?”
The boy knew that look. He was in trouble — the Yujin kind of trouble.
“What?” Y/n asked cautiously.
“I decided you need to be punished.” The girl's voice was calm, too calm.
Y/n leaned back, pretending to be relaxed but already sensing the storm coming. “Okay, fine. What kind of punishment are we talking about here?”
Yujin turned to him, eyes gleaming with that quiet mischief he’d come to love — the same look she gave right before teasing him in front of their friends or catching him off guard with a kiss when she's craving for his attention.
“No kisses,” the girl said simply.
Y/n blinked again. “What?”
Yunjin smiled sweetly. “For one month. Not even one.”
The boy stared at his girlfriend, stunned. “That’s… cruel and unusual.”
The girl folded her arms. “It’s fair. You lied to me this morning and made me panic for two hours thinking I forgot our anniversary. That deserves at least a month.”
Y/n groaned. “Yujin— come on, that’s extreme.”
Yunjin's brows lifted. “Oh? I can make it two.”
“Okay, okay!” the boy blurted quickly, hands up in surrender. “One month. But you’ll break first.”
“I won’t,” the girl said confidently, turning away. “You’re the clingy one.”
Y/n scoffed. “Excuse me? You literally pull me back into bed every morning.”
Yujin smirked without looking at her boyfriend. “That’s for warmth. Not affection.”
The boy let out an exaggerated sigh, sliding closer. “Yujin, be serious— a month without kisses? You can’t possibly—”
Yujin stood abruptly, cutting him off. “Goodnight,” she said, clearly enjoying her boyfriend's frustration.
Y/n blinked up at her. “You’re going to bed already?”
“Mhm,” the girl hummed, heading toward the bedroom. Then she paused, looked over her shoulder with a teasing glint in her eye. “Oh, and if you try to steal one while I’m asleep— that adds another week.”
The boy's mouth fell open. “You’re evil.”
Yujin only laughed softly, stepping into the dim light of the hall. “You should’ve thought about that before you teamed up with them.”
The door clicked shut behind her.
Y/n sat there for a long moment, staring blankly at the TV screen. The faint sound of his girlfriend humming drifted from the other room — content, unbothered, completely confident she’d won.
The boy sank deeper into the couch, muttering to himself. “A month… she can’t last a week.”
Three Days Later
Y/n was suffering.
Yujin had been merciless. Every time she leaned in close — brushing past him in the kitchen, whispering something during breakfast, resting her head on his shoulder during movie night — she’d do it just long enough to make him think she’d finally given in… only to smirk and pull away.
He’d tried reasoning. He’d tried bargaining. He even brought his girlfriend flowers while he went down on his knees, begging.
Each time, Yujin only smiled sweetly and said, “Twenty-seven days left.”
Y/n groaned, rubbing his face. “This is psychological warfare.”
“Call it discipline,” the girl said, sipping her drink on the couch, totally unfazed.
The boy turned to his girlfriend, eyes pleading. “Yujin, please. You’re being impossible.”
The girl met her boyfriend's gaze — calm, teasing, victorious. “You should’ve thought about that before that prank.”
Y/n leaned closer, lowering his voice. “You’re really going to keep this up?”
“Mm-hmm.” The girl didn’t even flinch.
“Not even one?”
“Not even one.”
The boy sighed dramatically, leaning back and staring at the ceiling. “I’m dying, Yujin.”
“Then you’ll die knowing your girlfriend keeps her promises,” Yujin replied, trying not to laugh at her boyfriend's exaggerated despair.
But when Y/n looked at her — really looked — he could see the faintest pink rising in her cheeks. The truth was, this was torture for her too. Yujin loved his kisses just as much as he loved giving them.
She just wasn’t about to lose.
The boy caught that flicker of hesitation, and his lips curved slowly. “You’re cracking.”
Yujin eyes narrowed. “I’m not.”
“You are.”
“Stop talking.”
“You’re thinking about it right now, aren’t you?”
The girl shot her boyfriend a sharp look — one that was supposed to be intimidating but only made the boy's grin wider.
Y/n leaned closer, his voice a low whisper near her ear. “Say it. You miss me.”
Yujin's breath hitched, just slightly. Then she stood up abruptly, cheeks flushed. “Twenty-six days left,” she muttered, walking away before her boyfriend could see her smile.
Y/n laughed softly to himself, shaking his head.
“You’ll cave first,” he called after her.
From down the hall, Yujin's voice floated back, smug and confident:
“We’ll see.”
