The Skeleton King Is Coming Alive

I have tightened up the narrative beats of the story and while building out the first level I realized compositionally I was really happy with how I was able to separate the foreground and the background...But the scale wasn't right. The top image is 320 x 180 which can scale up to 1920 x 1080 but I wasn't happy with how limited was vertically and horizontally for player movement and enemies. I realized it was very tight. SO. I scaled up the play field to 480 x 270 which can also scale up to 1080 which you can see below.

I'm a lot happier with this version compositionally and I'm almost back to where I was originally with mapping out level 1 and oooooooo buddy am I excited. The Skeleton King has set on an adventure and it is taking him through diverse locales and all over the realm. The first level here where we find the Skeleton King is an old abandoned crypt that has fallen into disrepair.

Why is a king in an abandoned crypt? Why is that king a skeleton? And why are we in an abandoned crypt? Hmmmmmm....mysteries.

I made a game for the original Nintendo that uses a light gun! (Patreons at the 1 dollar tier and up can play it right now!)

The game itself is pretty simple. There are 4 characters on screen. 1 player character, and 3 computer characters. Player 1 uses the controller to move the player character. Player 2 has the light gun (Nintendo Zapper), and will try to shoot player 1s character.

If player 2 shoots the player character then player 2 wins. 
If player 2 shoots a computer character, then player 1 wins.

Player 1 needs to pretend to be a computer character by trying to move like the computer characters in order to try and trick player 2 into shooting the wrong character.

The game works on Nintendo Emulators and in real Nintendo hardware if you have a flash cart or everdrive!

Anyone know a good artist that would be willing to let me pay them to make some assets for an NES game I’m making? Specifically looking for someone who is willing to work within the limits of what an original Nintendo can do

Barring a few minor changes forward, HEXES is essentially done!

Will update on a proper "release build" in the future. We also want to write a post-mortem about the game.
