happy ffwf!! what fic of yours have you reread the most times? why? (- thinkingisadangerouspastime)
happy ffwf amy @thinkingisadangerouspastime!!!! it's been forever since i've done one of these omg but this is a great question!
the fic of mine i reread the most is, specifically chapter four, of the fear of losing hold. it has all the angst and relationships i love and was the first scene for the fic i thought up, which then motivated me to write the whole thing to get to it lmao. the first couple of lines in particular—
It begins on the beach, homecoming night, not that Peter, a universe away from the version of himself that died more than once in his mentor’s arms, knows it.
Every part of his body aches, and he’s fifteen and dumb and tries to warn Toomes instead of getting himself the hell away from the inevitable fall out of the wings lifting him precariously, dangerously into the air.
“I’m trying to save you!” he yells, though it hurts to move, speak, breathe.
Peter will check, later in his life, and find that Toomes lived to be good and old—released early from prison on good behavior and never convicted of another crime. He’ll spend much longer than that quick search wondering what might’ve happened if he’d run.
—are familiar enough to me that reading them is a bit like putting on an old sweatshirt. they're cozy and worn in all the right ways, yk? the fic, in general, is also very nostalgic for me because i wrote it years ago at this point, and while i'm proud of it, it's still interesting to see how I've grown.
i also love the payoff for some of the clues to the twist i sewed into the previous three chapters; throwaway lines suddenly get a lot of meaning with the fourth chapter, and that makes me very >:)
that's probably a Bit more info than you bargained for, but yeah! thanks for asking!!! ily!
