Oh, they're finally awake! And here's the first question! I'm... call me the Askgiver. I will give u guys the qurstions, that the other ##### make! So lets go!
@tempreblogs
I have been trying to respond to your reblog for days, I am forcing myself to buckle down and actually do that because I am going insane by not doing that. I’m doing it in a separate post because the other one was already long. (original post)
First off Shrek doesn’t count, even by Musical Canon, but the fact I can’t fully articulate why is absolutely killing me and hilarious. He can’t go to Fairfolk currently because he’s too old, but I can’t articulate why not if that weren’t the case and that’s wild.
Other things under the cut. We’re hitting another Cutscene.
I actually am watching The Good Place for the first time right now at a friend’s behest! Realizing Kris and Eug were Eleanor and Jason (respectively) made things a lot easier. In the original canon Eugene was basically a type of shadow in the walls kind of situation (the students chalked it up to being haunted), but it made more sense overall and for Eugene specifically that I made the switch last time I went over the lore. It gives him a reason to stay with the group aside from just being kindred with Kristoff (he can use their keys to get into previously inaccessible rooms). It’s also just a lot less of a mechanical headache to get him into scenes.
Now that you mention it, I CAN SEE THE HAJIME VIBES! I understand the vision. Somehow my brain is saying this implies Hans is Komaeda but also several degrees to the left, which I’m not gonna dwell on because it would kill me specifically.
I am biting at your theory because from what I’ve posted it all makes so, so much sense! And some of it is right, but some of it is to the left, but some of it USED to be right!
The deal with Adam, that we learn some time in season one (yes I am unhinged enough to have broken this plot up into episodes/seasons) that he did not come back to school after a break. The school doesn’t outright confirm it so as not to cause too much alarm, but the curse breaking aspect of the curriculum is a bit more beefed that year. Adam has been cursed by the Enchantress, just like in canon, so to that end he isn’t returning to campus any time soon.
The aspect of the morality of handling that was actually a MASSIVE part of the TTRPG. The players called out the level of unfairness and implied cruelty of just washing their hands of the problem (the school had a history of sending cursed princes back to their homeworlds without a safety net, and not even being sure they were getting home). This isn’t as much of a focus in the Cartoon, partially because this aspect is scrubbed from the current plot (I just don’t wanna deal with it anymore, it’s beyond the scope of what I want), but it does still exist through the relationship of Adam and Naveen.
Adam, Hans, and Naveen were actually fairly close. Adam provided kind of a bridge between Hans and Naveen’s personalities, and you were right! Hans and Adam were roommates. When Adam didn’t come back, the two of them stuck together due to the shared grief.
Drew a comic about them having a conversation on their feelings about that 10 years ago:
(fun fact: I think these are the last surviving pages from the original lorebook)
The following is copy pasted from the most recent version of the lore book:
“Through mysterious direction, Naveen is led to a hidden room. In this room he finds a mirror, which he is surprised to find is magical. But more surprising than its magical properties, is what he sees on the other side-- A small, beastly figure, cradled over a desk, staring at a rose. This beast…its hair, its clothing, the way it breathes…reminds Naveen of…
“Adam?”
At the sound of the name, the beast responds in shock, grabbing the mirror.
“Naveen?”
The two converse, Naveen overtaken by joy that Adam is alive and sentient, Adam glad to just have some level of company. Naveen begins to visit the mirror. Begins to be closer to Adam than they even were before. Begins to think a curse may not be so bad. “
On Hans’ end:
“Hans, upon hearing that Adam has “gotten worse” has begun to close himself off entirely. He became obsessed with the idea of curses, spending all of his time in extra study, looking for ideas, for answers. He hadn’t spoken to Naveen since that conversation. He would not be speaking to Naveen now. He needed to focus.”
We’ll get back to that though :)
ADDRESSING THE LIGHTNING ROUND!
The more I thought about it, the cooler it was to have these basically nameless figures be the holders of a legacy. Philip has a name, but Philip and Theo both work as liaisons to The Everything. Them both being the youngest of their trios, I wanted them both to kind of hold the idea of breaking tradition. Philip was always intended to be this, but since Theo has covered that idea in current canon, I almost want Philip to be somewhat still feeling the same way, but more resigned to his position. We wouldn’t see the OG3 for a while in the cartoon, but when we do…..
The idea of cycles is actually a super big theme in TG! The idea of societal roles (all kinds) was what kicked off the bigger parts of the idea! As it is now and as I’ve decided to tighten the scope, the types of cycles focused on are a lot more personal than my initial idea, but the thoughts of cycles and what it means to fit into a role are still very notable themes.
I need to figure out everyone’s IDs. Because the idea was added in the TTRPG stage, I never thought of any for The Boys haha.
Most princes learn about each other through word of mouth, just like most schools! News of Kristoff went around like wildfire because it was such an unusual happening. If you mean how does the school get histories, so far I’ve decided they have a kind of…magical database that they can sift through (it’s just Good Place again now that I think about it). As for the Headmaster….I have nixed him from the hierarchy. I knew I forgot something in my re-write of that post, and The Headmaster being nixed was the biggest thing. He was super important in the original idea and in the TTRPG, there was a huge conspiracy, I ended up doing a lot of world bending political stuff, I no longer wish to deal with ANY of that. I have made the stakes lower and the themes more personal, and I’m much happier not having him involved lmao. The OG3 kind of take his place as the higher-ups, though there’s likely people over them who…actually probably don’t pay this side of Fairfolk much attention.
Hook being the fencing teacher was a great idea I agree.
Hans and the Snow Queen stuff…lol…lmao…hahaha, even. Yes it is directly Snow Queen inspired. No, he is not OK. Realizing I haven’t posted a lot of my WIPs, but…look at his eyes at points in things I’ll be posting later, and some I already did. A lot more happened between school years than Hans is letting on, and the deal with Adam is affecting him WAY more than he’s admitting.
Clearly both Kristoff and Eugene are very, very fine. (Kristoff will outwardly say he’s homesick. Eugene…Eugene has complicated feelings.)
Thank you so much for this, seeing your response was so, so lovely, please hit me up Any Way (except DMs, to clarify) and Any Time, people asking about or theorizing about things gives me so much life and energy.
Tbh, honestly, I may just drop the current Character Arcs in written form, because by nature of TG but also of being an online creator…I have no reason to hide any of it. If I ever make it a bigger thing it’ll essentially be an adaption, and with TG it’s more about the ride. I’m trying hard to make the movies as canon as possible.
So we all know how this ends. We all know where they go after this.
So TG has to end in a way that lets those arcs happen… for better or for worse.
To Rodger: Can you remember anything else about what you were researching?
(To Creator: i really love this blog and i'm sorry not many people ask, i want to but i never know what to ask, keep up the great work! Also your artstyle is so good!)

Ooc: Ohhhhh thank youuuuu) Thanks for the compliment))))) You can acctually ask anything you want! Even when it looks dumb!
