This year our contestants are simply amazing! ALL OF THEM. But the reason for that are all the amazing creators!! More than any other year of doing this Sim challenge, opportunities to reach out and to educate while having fun are much more available, thanks to these creators that have shared their sims.
We have an array of opportunities with the Sims in our game this year; different races, age groups and sexual identities that it would be a disservice not to have some courageous conversations while we have some fun with this challenge. The creators are also very diverse in these same areas.
I, as a gay white man, of age have things that I deal with and see in every day life, which in turn is going to come to light in my writing. However, I can not even begin to try and write stories, dialogue or life experiences of Sims that I have no personal experiences with. It would be a gross injustice to do so, or to even assume I have any knowledge of their experience.
That is why, I and some of the other creators that have submitted their Sims to be part of this challenge are going to be collaborating to have some meaningful and courageous conversations regarding these topics. I will be giving them credit for these collaborative posts and will also tag these posts appropriately. (TGB4Diversity)
Yes, Sims are fun, playing this challenge is also very fun for me and hopefully to you that follow me. But this game is a simulation of life. We as “simmers” and “Simblrs” put ourselves into these creations, and our stories. I feel we can also bring ourselves to the table here in our creations and our stories to bring us together IRL, to understand one another a little better and love a little deeper and stronger.
