favorite male character: Shaun, but I also really like Melendez and could see him POTENTIALLY becoming my favorite after a few seasons. We will see.favorite female character: Claireleast favorite character: I would’ve 110% said Reznick not long ago, but she is growing on me. Probably Andrews tbh. prettiest character: Jared, folks. funniest character: Shaun, obviously.favorite season: I will have to wait and see the rest of season 2, but I think I am more hooked now that season 2 is airing. I don’t know that season 2 is actually better, though. I know most people seem to prefer season 1. favorite episode: Eh, any of the midseason finales/finales are very exciting. I don’t think I have one particular favorite. favorite romantic ship: Melendaire! I’m fairly confident that they will be endgame, but it’s still pretty early, and the way this show writes its relationships is sometimes weird, so we will see. favorite family ship: Shaun and Glassmanfavorite friend ship: Shaireworst ship: Shaire. Oops. I will probably get massacred for this, but I just cannot see them as romantic. I genuinely hope the show never goes there, and right now, I don’t really think it will. I also don’t really like Limendez, but I’ve actually seen that one coming, so.

I was thinking about it further and I'd like to change my answer about The Tholian Web as an introductory ep for your friend. It's difficult to find something that matches the requirement. Normally when there's action the situation often causes tension between the characters. But I think The Ultimate Computer might work. Kirk feels vulnerable and has some sincere conversations with both McCoy and Spock about it.

I’ve given up hope for Melendaire :(

Well this isn’t really a question, but yay. I never get asks even though I love them haha. 

The back half of the season has admittedly disappointed me a bit with the lack of overall Melendaire interaction, but even though I was hoping for a few more sweet/friendly moments between them, I never thought we’d get any real romantic development this season and figured most of Melendez’s personal life plotline would be centered around Lim. 

I definitely haven’t given up hope. First of all, because as you can see from my user, I ship Stydia and Bellarke and have had to wait for them to canon (Am still waiting on Bellarke). I’m kind of used to keeping my expectations manageable when it comes to my ships. All the best ships only get a few moments at a time anyway, especially early on. That’s kind of the point, so viewers will be left wanting more! I’m hoping Melendaire will become one of these really nice slow burns. 

Secondly, they have by far the best chemistry on the show romantically imo. I think the writers are aware of this, and the writers are also aware that the ship has a fan base. They’ll take their time getting to it because they want the viewers to want it, and for it to pay off in the end. 

Also, this show is just not very good at writing romance. I have hope that they will get better, but even if they do, I don’t think they’re ever going to have a ton of focus on it per episode. I personally think Shea has gotten a lot better in season 2 and feels more genuine, but look at how flat Limendez and Park and his wife (Who I can’t even remember the name of) feel. This leads to me not being surprised that the melendaire scenes may end up scare or spaced very oddly. 

That being said, because the writing in this show is so odd when it comes to anything romantic, I can’t honestly say I’m as confident in this endgame as I am in some of my other ships. I think we need more time to see it blossom before we know for certain, but I do have a good feeling about it! It just makes sense.
