Final chap!
Walking into the barracks that was given for them to rest in, Smalls looked around the room and saw Jo quickly shoving something into his bag.
“Hi- HI! Smalls!” Jo pulled his satchel over his head and held it close to him. “Ready to leave your Highness?!”
“We are alone Jo, I’m just Smalls right now remember?” Smalls said.
“YES! Right! You are so correct your High– SMALLS! YOU ARE CORRECT SMALLS.” Jo spuddered out.
Smalls tilled his head to the side a bit. “Are you alright?”
“YES! FINE! NEVER BEEN BETTER! OKAY NOW LETS GO.” Jo scrambled past Smalls and rushed out the door.
Smalls looked at the door with curiosity before turning towards the other Bracers.
“Did something happen between us?) Smalls asked.
“Um, no your highness..” Nate Flynn said, grabbing his pack and slinging it over his shoulder.
Owen and Studge grabbed their packs as well. “I'm sure it's fine, your highness.” Owen said.
“Yes, let's get going.” Studge said.
Smalls just nodded, he looked over at Wilfred, Wilfred just shrugged. Then the group all left to follow Jo back home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jo ran into the warren he was currently staying in, he saw Picket and Helmer talking amongst themselves. Jo ran up to them.
“Hi Picket!” Jo said, walking up to the two. “How'd the mission go?”
“It went okay, you still have the Green Ember?” Picket asked.
“Why does Jo have the Green Ember?” Helmer asked.
“He asked me to watch it because your mission was dangerous.” Jo said.
“And so you went on a mission yourself?” Helmer asked.
“It wasn’t that dangerous!” Jo responded. "And I didn't really have a choice..."
“Well do you have it?” Picket asked.
“Yes, I do.” Jo reached into his satchel, pulled out the coin purse and handed it to Picket.
Picket opened the coin purse and took out the gem, just as he was about to place it into his sword hilt, “Jo!” Said the voice of Smalls.
“You ran off, and you didn't wait for the group, did something happen?” Smalls asked.
“N-no, Everything is fine! Sorry for running off..” Jo said.
“It's alright, anyway, Picket? Can I have the Green Ember back?” Smalls asked.
“Yeah, here you go.” Picket handed the gem back over. Smalls took the gem and checked it over.
“Excellent condition, doesn't seem to be broken.” Smalls said to Picket.
“Well It's not like I would not be so careless with your heir ruling stone.” Picket responded.
“So you gave it to Jo?” Helmer interrupted.
“Wait Jo had it?” Smalls asked.
“Well, I didn't want to take it on our super dangerous mission with us!” Picket defended.
“So Jo had it at Skyrock?” Smalls asked, turning to Jo.
“Heh…. Yeah…” Jo said, grabbing his arm nervously.
“Well, I guess it wasn't too dangerous at Skyrock…” Smalls said. “Well, thanks for watching it for me, you two.” Jo wiped at his brow.
“Of course, anytime!” Jo said.
“Whatever you need your Highness.” Picket responded, then Picket and Helmer began to walk off to presumably train.
Jo watched as Smalls began to walk off, he started to lift the gem to place it over his head, but then Smalls noticed something and turned back around to face Jo.
“Shanks?” Smalls asked.
Jo's eyes widened slightly. “Y-yes?”
“Why is the chain from the necklace you bought on the Green Ember?” Smalls inquired.
“Uhhh, its not– um…. H– how did you know?” Jo asked.
“The shade of gold is slightly lighter, why did you swap the chain?” Smalls didn't seem upset, so Jo felt safe to tell Smalls.
“Um, it… broke?” Jo said softly.
Smalls's expression blanked. “Picket?” Smalls called out.
The gold rabbit in the distance turned around. “Yes, your highness?” Picket asked.
“Never trust Jo with the gem again.” The expressionless face on Smalls scared Jo more than if he started screaming.
“O-kay?” Picket said, then he slowly backed up to catch up with his master, who didn't stop walking.
Jo was about to explain but Wilfred walked in at that moment.
“Smalls? We need to go over some paperwork.”
“Coming Wilfred.” Smalls stared at Jo for a moment longer, before backing up and following Wilfred.
Jo's shoulders relaxed.
“You good?” Studge asked, walking up.
“When did you get here?” Jo asked.
“We just showed up.” Owen said, joining Studge's side.
“Did Smalls find out?” Nate asked Jo.
“-yeah…” Jo sighed.
“Are you getting in trouble?” Studge asked.
“I don't know.” Jo responded.
“Wanna go to the mess?” Owen asked.
“Sure..” Jo said.
“You seem tired.” Nate said.
“That is because I am Nate.” Jo said.
“Well, let's get you some food.” Nate placed his shoulder around Jo's and and led him away. Studge and Owen followed.
“Finally! Some good food!” Studge said.
“Wasn't all food good food Studge?” Owen asked.
Studge just rolled his eyes, then laughed. “Not at Skyrock!”
“I'll send you back to Skyrock if you ever roll your eyes at me again!” Owen said.
“You two stop fighting back there.” Nate called over his shoulder.
Jo smiled as the rest of the Bracers began arguing. “Never change you three.” Jo thought.
Second to last chapter!
Stuff happen, panic happens, rabbits run.
Wandering the hallways of Skyrock Citadel, the four Bracers looked through hallway after hallway, looking in door after door.
“Is there really no market here? How do they buy and sell things? Door to door?” Owen asked the group.
“Its possible that they don’t have things to sell.” Nate responded.
“What about clothing?” Jo asked.
Nate thought for a moment. “Or it could be like a different citadel I went to once, they had markets on scheduled days.”
“Then what happens if you need something before the market day?” Studge asked.
“I guess you're outta luck.” Nate said. “Or you go to the person who makes what you want and ask.”
“That's so inefficient tho!” Jo wailed.
"I don't control the markets Jo." Nate said.
“Let's ask a local.” Owen suggested while approaching a young mother with two children.
“Excuse me ma’am?” Owen asked the doe.
The doe turned to face Owen grabbing the hands of her little ones.
“O-Oh H-Hi sir! Uh.. Do-Do you need something?” Owen noted the doe looked scared.
“Just a question, I'm not from around here.” Owen said.
“O-okay, um, w-what is it?”
“Do you know anywhere we can find chains for necklaces?” Owen asked.
The doe pondered for a moment. “Oh w-well, the m-markets usually have vendors selling full necklaces, n-not sure w-where one could find just the chain.” The doe seemed to calm down a bit,
” Maybe she thought I was a threat?” Owen thought. “Thank you for the assistance ma’am, but I haven’t see a market around here, do you know where that is?” Owen asked.
“Oh! Y-you really are new.” the doe said, she nodded to her left. “They usually have it in the courtyard.”
“Thank you ma’am, travel safe.” Owen did a small nod and walked back over to the other Bracers.
“Dang Owen, that doe seemed afraid of you.” Jo commented.
“Yeah! And then, the more you talked to her, she seemed to calm down!!” Sduge added.
“Maybe I just give off a friendly vibe.” Owen said. “Anyways, I figured out why we can’t find the market, we haven't looked outside, it's in a courtyard that way.
“Oh thank goodness they have a market.” Nate said. “Jo, the things I help you get away with.”
“Hey! You said it yourself! You’d get in trouble too!” Jo snapped back.
“I don’t think he would have.” Studge said. “The Prince isn’t really mean.”
“He wouldn't have gotten in trouble if he didn't join this goose chase. Now, since we helped hide it, we’ll probably get in trouble if we told the Prince.” Owen said.
“Well, thanks for not reporting me!” Jo said.
“Never again.” Nate muttered under his breath.
The Brachers set off and wandered through more hallways. They had to stop and ask the locals once or twice for more directions, but the group eventually made it to the courtyard.
Stepping outside, Jo was surprised at how large it was, sure, it was a market, but it was bigger than expected.
“Great! Now we just need to find a necklace stand.” Jo said.
“Or a jewelry stand.” Nate said.
The Bracers looked around for a bit before Jo spotted a stand. “Oh look guys! That sign says jewelry!” The rest of the group looked in the direction of where Jo was pointing.
“Great, let's go over there, Jo? You have the gem?” Nate asked.
“Yep! Jo reached into his satchel and pulled out the coin purse, he didn’t take out the gem, the market didn’t need to start thinking Jo was the heir. (Or try and steal it.)
Walking up to the stand Jo caught the attention of the vendor.
“Hello! I was wondering if you had any necklaces with gold chains?” Jo asked.
The vendor smiled. “Finally! Somebunny wants to buy one of the gold ones! We’ve been waiting all week for this!” The vendor gestured to a small group of golden necklaces with different color jewels and different kinds of pendants on them. Jo looked them over.
“How much is the cheapest one?” Jo asked.
“You want the cheapest? I know people wanna save money but shouldn't you consider the person you are getting it for?” The vendor asked.
“Oh, it's actually for me, I want a little something gold but don’t wanna spend too much money on it.”
The vendor nodded. “Understandable, well this one is just 50 coins.” The necklace that the vendor pointed to was a stunning blue jeweled necklace with a long gold chain.
“Oh, um, let me look in my bag.” Jo began rummaging through his satchel but he only had 10 coins, Jo looked at the other Bracers. “Uh, you guys got 40 coins?”
The other Bracers began looking through their pockets and bags.
“I got 5.” Owen said.
“I know I have 50, but I left it at home.” Studge said.
“Why would you leave it if you knew we would have to buy a gold chain?” Owen asked.
“It didn’t cross my mind!” Studge said.
Nate sighed at the augment. “I have 10.” Nate told Jo.
“Thats not enough!” Jo looked at the vendor. “Would you take 25?” Jo dumbly asked.
“I get being broke, but no.” The vendor said. “Maybe you should wait to buy some jewlry if you can’t even afford it yourself.
“Yeah, stupid question.” Jo responded, then said “You trade?”
“Depends on what ya got?”
“What are you looking for?”
“A good quality cloak, or some apples would be a fair trade i’d say.” The vendor said.
“I don’t have any apples, and my cloak is full of holes.” Jo responded.
“Guess your outta luck, buck.” The vendor said. Just as they said it though, 60 coins were placed down on the counter.
Jo looked over to see who it was and his face paled.
“Can we get a bag for my friend's necklace please? Smalls asked. "The rest is a tip."
The vendor looked a bit shocked for a moment. “Uh, sure? How's a little kid like you have so much money?”
“I’m an adult actually, I was just born small.” Smalls said.
“Okay then, I’ll get that packaged up for ya.” As the vendor tuned to do that, Smalls faced Jo.
“So what do you need a necklace for?”
Jo panicked. “U-UH, Umm, W-well, um, its, oh um, I- uh!”
Owen stepped in. “Its for a gift!”
“Oh nice, can I ask for who?” Smalls asked.
“Why?!” Studge asked the Prince.
“To make sure I don’t accidentally spoil the gift.” Smalls said, taking the bag from the vendor and handing it to Jo. Jo stared at the bag dumbly before grabbing Nate's hand and running off.
“SORRY GOTTA GO!” Jo said to the prince, Owen and Studge followed quickly after.
“O-kay?” Smalls said confused.
“What was that about?” Wilfred asked, walking up to Smalls with several bags.
“I don’t know.” Smalls said softly, while looking in the direction the Bracers ran off to.
“I’m sure it wasn’t anything bad.” Wilfred said. “Now let's go back to our room to pack up.”
“Yes, I really don’t wanna be here anymore, Lord Mandroth is annoying.” Smalls said before the two began walking back to the rooms.
Approaching Skyrock Citadel, Jo bounced in front of the group to be the first one at the gate for parameter security.
“Do they know we're coming?” Jo asked.
“Yes, password is Mending not found.” Wilfred responded.
“Okay?” Jo thought as he approached the gate. “Uh, Mending not found?” He said.
A black and brown rabbit guard came out from the gate looking at Jo
“Oh, the Prince.” The guard said. “Follow me.” The rabbit said.
“We are going straight to Lord Mandroth, correct?” Smalls asked.
The guard raised an eyebrow. “Who's this pipsqueak?”
“That ‘pipsqueak’ is your prince." Nate Flynn sternly said stepping between Smalls and the black/brown rabbit.
The guard's face paled, he quickly bowed to Smalls. “Apologies, your Highness! I had no clue!”
“All is forgiven, although next time don't assume things based on someone's height.” Smalls said “Now may you please take us to Lord Mandroth?”
“Of course your Highness!” The guard turned to hold the door open for Smalls, but let go when Smalls got through, and before the rest got to the door, Owen grabbed it before it could hit any of them in the face.
“Rude.” Owen murmured under his breath.
Walking through weaving hallways now, Jo and Studge looked through every doorway they could to see if one of them led to a market.
Jo looked forward as the guard stopped them at a door, the rabbit pushed it open and inside was a six bunk room.
“This will be your quarters for the day, settle in for now,” The guard began to walk down a hallway. “I will inform ty’ Lord of your arrival.”
“Thank you.” Smalls responded and then walked into the room. “It will just be me and Wilfred in the meeting, so if you want too rest or look around you can.”
“We'll probably look around, I'm quite hungry.” Nate said.
“Me too honestly.” Owen added.
“Are you two hungry as well?” Nate asked Jo and Studge.
“Starving!” Studge says.
“Yep, where do you think the mess hall is?” Jo asked.
“We can ask when they come to get us.” Wilfred said.
“And you two will be fine alone right?” Nate asked.
“Yes, we can both fight, if it becomes too much to handle, we'll find you.” Smalls said.
“But hopefully it won't come to that.” Wilfred said.
A knock was heard at the door, Owen approached and opened it.
“Lord Mandroth will see you now.” A guard, different from the first one, said.
“Thank you, and may I ask where the mess is? My escorts are awfully hungry.” Smalls asks.
The new guard turns to look at Nate. “Just follow the red marks on the walls sir.”
“Thank you, come on bucks, let's go get some lunch.”
Studge watched as the Prince and Wilfred followed the guard, the remaining group started to follow the red marks on the wall, when they were out of earshot Studge asked. “Are we actually hungry or were we using that as an excuse to get away to try and find a gold chain?”
“Wait, was that an excuse? I was actually hungry.” Jo said.
“Of course you are.” Nate said. “And no, It wasn't just an excuse, I actually want food.”
“Gotcha.” Studge responded.
“Oh hey! I found the mess hall!” Owen said before walking through the doorway.
“Great, hopefully they have good meals.” Nate said.
“All food is great.” Jo said.
“You would say that.”
“Whats that supposed to mean?”
“Whatever you want it too, coco rabbit.”
“Hey! Studge is more a coco colored rabbit!" Jo snaps back, at the mention of his name the ‘coco’ rabbit peered over in Jo and Flynn's direction.
“Hhm?” Studge hum's
“Nothing Studge.” Jo responds back.
Studge glances at Owen for a moment before shrugging and prancing off to the counter.
“What kind of delicious food do you have here sir?” Studge asked the rabbit behind the counter.
“Look around buck, it's a help-yourself buffet.” The buck behind the counter said without looking up from their work.
“OHHH!” Studge said, grabbing a few plates from a stack and turning around to hand them to the other Bracers.
“We can get whatever! It isn’t portioned!” Studge said, bouncing up and down slightly.
Nate Flynn took a plate and moved over to grab a bowl of soup.
Once all the Bracers had grabbed their meals, they moved over to a table in the corner to eat and discuss how to fix the Green Ember.
“I didn’t see any markets.” Jo says.
“There has to be one here somewhere I’m sure.” Nate responded.
“I haven’t seen any rabbits wearing necklaces in general.” Owen said.
“Maybe it's a class thing.” Studge suggested.
“That would mean we’d have less of a chance of getting a replacement chain!” Jo said.
“You know, if you were more careful with it, this wouldn't have happened.” Owen said.
“What were you doing with it to break the chain anyways?” Nate asked. “All I saw was you on the floor with the chain already broken.”
Jo looked away sheepishly. “Hehe, I may have been climbing the weapon crate and it slipped and fell and the chain got hooked on a loose screw soo…”
“So you did break the weapons crate… again…” Nate said. "I'm not even going to ask why you were climbing the crate in the first place."
“Heh.. yeh…” Jo responded.
After the Bracers ate their respective meals, Nate stood up saying. “All right bucks, now we need to find a gold chain.”
“Where should we look first?” Owen asked.
“We will look around for a market.” Nate said, grabbing his place and stacking it with other dirty ones for the dishwasher rabbits can get them easier, the rest of the Bracers followed suit.
They then left the mess, they needed to find a gold chain.
Is this a Bracer fic? Yes. Am I also going to add Smalls angst to it? Also yes.
Jo gulped as he and the Bracers slowly approached the Prince and Wilfred, the two rabbits were talking in hushed whispers to each other, but Wilfred noticed the group approaching and ended the conversation, Smalls seemed to get annoyed by that.
Jo glanced down at his brown satchel, it had a few things for travel, but it also had the Green Ember inside. Jo had shoved it in a coin purse so hopefully if he accidentally spilled the bag's contents, the green gem wouldn't be found.
“Hello Bracers.” Prince Smalls had said, annoyed expression quickly morphing into more positive one.
“Have you all had rest?” Wilfred asked.
“We're as rested as we'll ever be.” Nate Flynn responded.
The Bracers all did a quick bow to the Prince, Jo less than the others.
“We're ready to escort you, your Highness.” Jo said.
“I am just Smalls for this mission, I'd prefer it at least, just until Skyrock Citadel.” Smalls said.
“Yes sir.” The group responded.
Wilfred passed a small pack over to the Prince, sliding his own on his back as Smalls did the same.
“Ugh, this is heavy.” Smalls said.
“Is it because of your size?” Studge says, giggling.
“Cut it, Studge!” Nate gripes. “You should know better than to disrespect the Prince like that!”
“Come'on sir! He's just so small! Can't even carry his own backpack awwwww!” Even though Studge had meant it in a teasing, nice way, he got hit with a scarf.
“Ow! Hey!” Studge exclaimed looking in the direction the scarf came from.
“I have more.” Smalls said casually. “I'm fine with playful teasing but I wish for no disrespect towards my height please.” He ended with a smile.
Studge nodded, picking up the scarf and handing it back to Smalls.
“Dang,” Jo thought. “That's the nicest way I've seen somebody scold someone.”
Jo looked over his shoulder, Owen was smirking. He leaned closer to Jo saying. “Doesn't Studge realize he's the smallest Bracer?” Owen laughed.
“I think the guy's brain is dead.” Jo jokingly responded.
“No Shanks, you're the brain dead one, Studge just doesn't have a brain.” Nate chimed in.
"Heeyy...." Jo said.
“I can hear you!” Studge shouted at them.
“Can you all please stop fighting so we can get a move on.” Wilfred says. “I don't wish to travel at night.”
“All right bucks!” Nate began. “Lets get moving, Wilfred you leading?”
“Yes.” Wilfred said before turning around and prancing out the gate, Smalls followed closely behind, then Nate, followed by Owen, Jo, then Studge bringing up the rear.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the group of rabbits were traveling, and breaking a few twigs as paws stepped on them, Jo observed the Prince, he seemed a bit tired, and Jo wondered what he was annoyed about earlier.
“Remember bucks,” Nate began. “If we get attacked, Owen is the ‘Prince’.”
“I’m always the ‘Prince’.” Owen complained.
“I’d choose myself but Wilfred says you need white fur.” Nate responded.
“Why do you need white fur?” Studge dumbly asks.
“Because my fur is white, Garten longtreader knows what the fur color of Jupiter's heir is.” Smalls responded.
“Just great.” Owen responded.
“Do you always have to act dumb?” Jo asked.
“Ironic coming from you!” Studge shot back.
Jo just rolled his eyes before saying. “Wait, would that mean if the only other white rabbit was Heather she would get to be the ‘Prince’?” Jo asked. Jo didn't know why he brought up Heather, he just remembered they were close or something.
Smalls nearly stopped, Wilfred glanced at the prince, as if making sure Smalls wouldn't say something, Smalls cleared his throat before saying.
“I will not place a doe in that kind of danger.” Smalls didn’t look at Jo, just kept looking forward.
“You had that one doe Agnes dressed as a prince for that one mission.” Nate pointed out.
Smalls said nothing for a moment, then he spoke. “That was different, Agnes is a soldier doe.”
“She wasn't at the time.” Studge says. “If I didn't know any better, I'd say you care about Heather more than other rabbits.
Apparently that was not a good thing to say Jo noted, as Smalls paused his trek entirely looking at his satchel for a moment before saying.
“I don’t.” it was barely audible, and sounded a bit angry, and like it took force to say.
Jo waited for more, maybe a note about such accusations, but none came.
Jo noted Wilfred's face softening a bit sadly as he looked at the Prince.
“Yeah, Studge! How dare you accuse Smalls of having a favorite!" Jo said trying to fix the situation.
“Is it really not allowed to have rabbits he prefers?” Owen asks.
“He is a Prince, even if he has closer friends he can’t choose one rabbit over another like that.” Nate says. Jo sees Smalls’s ears go down slightly.
“Sure he can, Jupiter would choose one rabbit over another.” Owen says.
“Depending on the situation, between a rabbit that is basically dead vs a rabbit that is just slightly injured, yeah choose the one that at least would survive, so you don’t kill two rabbits.” Nate said.
“That's an extreme comparison.” Owen responded. “How often is one rabbit near death vs a rabbit close by just injured?”
“Quite often, we are at war, but if you need a different one, a mother vs a child, who would you pick?” Nate asked.
“Unless the child is near death.” Owen says looked dead at Nate. “The child.”
“I’d try to save both.” Jo butts in.
“Well obviously that is the best option, but that’s a more difficult option.” Owen says.
“As a Prince, Smalls needs to know how to choose in situations like that, what if his options were Heather vs a child? Who would he pick? Assuming both rabbits are in equal condition?”
Jo saw Smalls’s ears flat against his head.
“The child is the better option, Heather would say so too.”
“Between a random child and Smalls you’d had better pick Smalls.” Wilfred joined the conversation.
Nate's eyes widened a bit. “Woah there Wilfred, I know he’s like your child and all but you’d really want us to let a child die over Smalls?”
“Yes, I would, and he isn't my child." Wilfred began, Jo saw Smalls's head turn a bit in Wilfred direction.
Wilfred continued. "If you’d choose one child’s life vs Jupiter's heir, you know, the rabbit that is here to defeat Morbin Blackhawk, you are asking to lose this war.” Wilfred’s face was a stern one.
“So you’d be fine with a child dying then?” Nate asks.
“I never said I’d be fine with it!” Wilfred had stopped walking and was now turned around to argue with Nate Flynn. “I’m telling you the prioritize the rabbit here to save Natalia over some random rabbits kid!”
Jo sees Smalls shrink closer to the ground, still not facing anyone.
“Random rabbits kid?! That is somebody's baby!” Nate shouts.
“SMALLS IS SOMEBODY’S BABY!” Wilfred shouted back.
“Stop.” Smalls says, Jo notes it's not angry, it's tired. “Stop bringing up these choices, I know you should choose me over the child, even if I personally say otherwise.” WIlfred cut Smalls off.
“I know you hate it but you are more important than somebody else's child.”
Smalls sighed. “I wasn’t done Wilfred.”
“Sorry.”
Smalls continued. “Like I said, I know you should choose me, over any other rabbit, even if I ask you not too, I know how important I am to have alive, I know I’d probably have to choose between a child and their mother at some point, or Heather and a child, but Please, I don’t wanna talk about this anymore.”
Smalls turned back around and slowly started walking back down their path. “We have a mission to do, and I don’t wish to be emotionally compromised when we get there.”
The other five rabbits sat there for a moment watching Smalls walk away, Wilfred got up and followed after a minute.
“Maybe let's not talk about difficult Prince choices.” Owen suggested.
“Yeah.” Nate agreed.
The Bracers got up to follow Wilfred and the Prince.

(I should note, its been a while since I read the Archer books so the Bracers might be ooc, maybe..... idk.... imma just characterize them how they apper in my brain.)
A crash was heard just through the door of the room Nate Flynn was about to enter into.
He sighed, “That had better not been the weapon crates again” He thought to himself, grabbing the door handle he pushed it open to reveal:
Jo Shanks.
Sprawled out on the floor.
“Of course.” Nate murmured to himself. “What are you doing buck?” He asked in a firm tone.
The lanky rabbit laying on the ground shot up, eyes wide as he stared at the buck standing in the doorway.
“O-Oh! Hi sir! Nothing is happening here!” Jo said as he scrambled to stand back up.
“Really?” Nate asked, he had doubts.
“Y-Yes sir! Nothing happening!” Jo placed his hand behind his back like someone hiding something would do.
A box of supplies was tumbled over next to Jo, but Nate wasn't worried about that.
“What do you have Jo.” Nate asked, eyeing Jo’s arms.
“N-nothing sir! All clear here!” Jo stammered.
“Then what’s behind your back?” Nate asked.
“Why my cotton tail of course!” Jo said, chuckling nervously.
“Shanks, whatever it is you did, I’m not going to be mad about it, I invited you for this mission, and I already know how clumsy you are.” Nate stepped closer to Jo. “So, what do you have?”
Jo looked at his feet, sighing he pulled out a green gem, the gold chain broken.
Nate’s eyes widened. “Why- why do you have that Shanks?!” He panicked as he took the gem from Jo.
“Picket asked me to watch it! But I didn't mean to break the chain!” Jo admitted.
“Well buck, the good news is you didn’t break the actual gem, the bad news.” Nate began.
“What! What's the bad news!? You're not going to rat me out are you!?” Jo panicked.
“Relax Jo, if I ratted you out, I would get in trouble for not watching your idiot tail better” Nate said.
“Then, what's the bad news?” Jo asked.
“We don’t have another golden chain.” Nate said.
“Well I’m sure the sister votaries have some necklaces, we could ask for one of them!” Jo said.
“Are the gold chain Necklaces?” Nate asked.
Jo slumped in defeat. “No, probably not…”
Nate didn’t respond, he was too busy trying to find a way out of this situation.
“Hey Jo?” Nate asked after a few moments.
“Yeah?” Jo responded.
“How long till you give this back to Picket?” Nate asked.
“When he returns from the all-day mission.”
“That should give us some time to work something out.”
“Don’t WE have a mission?”
“Hm, You’re right, we do.”
Jo stomped his foot twice on the ground while groaning in frustration.
“You’d think he’d notice if the chain turned silver?” He asked.
“Picket might not, but Prince Smalls definitely will, shouldn't risk it.” Nate responded.
“Soo what are we going to dooooooooo! It’s not like we can just tell Smalls we accidentally broke it!” Jo said.
“Broke what?” A voice from behind them asked.
The two rabbits jumped and swiveled their heads around to see who the voice was.
“Oh, Studge, Owen, it's just you two.” Nate said, placing a hand over his chest.
“What’d y'all break?” Studge asked, tilting his head slightly
“Nothing impor–” Jo began.
“This!!” Nate shouted angerly, holding up the gem for the two rabbits to see.
Owen peered at it a moment before speaking. “Looks intact to me.”
“The gem is fine Owen, the chain is what's broken!” Nate shouted.
“Well ya can’t wear it then!” Studge unhelpfully remarked.
“Oh really..” Nate replied sarcastically.
“Don’t the sisters always have a lotta jewelry?” Owen asked.
“I thought that too, but they definitely won’t have any gold jewelry, and we need a gold chain!” Jo said.
“Why wouldn't they?” Studge asked.
“Because they aren’t rich dummy!” Jo said lightly bonking Studge on the head.
Studge swatted Jo’s hand away. “Then ask Heyna or something, she’s a lord's daughter, she's bound to have a gold necklace.” He said.
“Heyna would most definitely tell Smalls we broke this.” Nate said.
“Then don’t tell her what it's for.” Owen suggested.
“And what do you think she’s gonna think when we approach her and ask to permanently have one of her necklaces?” Nate asked.
“She’s probably going to think one of you has a doe in mind you wanna give a gift to and can’t find any good ones on the market!” Studge said.
“Give a doe a used necklace from another doe to show love? Yeah right idiot.” Owen said.
“Hey, its worth a shot!” Studge said back.
“It really isn't.” Jo said.
“Whaatevver..” Studge said. “Well I hope you can figure that out in 10 minutes cuz the reason we walked in here was to inform y'all Wilfred and Prince Smalls reassigned us on a new mission.”
“Then who’s doing the old mission?” Nate asked.
“Cole and Heyna.” Owen responded.
“Okay fine, what's the new mission then, Studge?” Nate asked.
“Escorting The Prince and Wilfred to Skyrock Citadel.” Studge said casually.
“Wait! We can’t just approach the Prince with his broken gem in our back pocket!” Jo exclaimed.
“That and Jo was supposed to keep it safe for Picket while he went on a dangerous mission.” Nate informed.
“Worked out great huh?” Owen remarked.
“Not helpful Owen.” Jo responded.
"Y'all can't just leave it here either btw." Owen added.
"What are we going to dooooooooooo?" Jo whined.
“Why not just tell the truth?” Owen asked.
“NO! NOT HAPPENING!” Jo wailed.
“Why not?”
“I’ll never be trusted again!”
“You won’t be trusted again if you decide to not tell him and he finds out.” Owen said.
“The Prince won’t find out.” Nate said, interrupting the two arguing rabbits. “We are going on this mission, and maybe somewhere in Skyrock Citadel they have gold chains.”
“That is a plan built around hopes and dreams.” Owen said.
“Then dreams better come true.”
Opinions on Studge tge?
I think Studge is really underrated, I enjoyed him quite a bit, especially in The First Fowler
