friday on my mind
http://onmymind.jcink.net
guess what guys, the site’s done! we’ll be opening anywhere between 6 and 7pm est. just as soon as i wake up (it’ll be about 8/9 am for kylie and poor isla will already be at work) i’ll be posting the link and opening the proverbial doors! we cannot wait to meet you all there!
Campaigning for someone to take Ben's wife and business partner.
What I can promise:
Lots of fun and feelings.
Totally open ended.
In depth characterization of their business and life together.
I might cry for you idk.
I know the site opens like tomorrow, but it never hurts to throw an ad out, right? She's pretty open and he's pretty challenging to get along with in his own way, so there's lots of opportunity for worn emotions and clashing... I'll be honest, I would love more than most things to ship JGL and Lizzy Caplan (AND UNBEKNOWNST TO ME THERE'S SOMEONE THAT AGREED WITH ME), but we can talk... Idk. Hmu if you're interested!
surprise! we’ll be opening this weekend!
we have the last few things to finish up around the site so we won’t give an exact time in this post, but friday/saturday you can expect to be joining us. that being said, starting right now we’ll be opening pre-reserves. for now it’s just one reserve per person. just send an ask in with your name, preferred claim and at least one back-up. can’t wait to see you all on the other side of the homestretch!
I’m trapped in an airport, so here, have a character blurb. Mind my hideous formatting.
Benjamin Orson “Name Pending” Nygaard, 36, proud restaurant co-owner
Originally from Chicago, IL, so while city life us nothing new to him, he’s used to a fair amount of Midwestern kindness.
well, by Chicago, he’s really means Evanston… A decently affluent suburb to the north. But it’s just easier to say Chicago.
He’s a twin. But they aren’t that close. No, really. They never totally got along.
Possibly because his family unit was a little tense. Stubborn parents that probably *should* have split, but instead opted to undermine one another within the walls of the same house. Ben took after his father, the twin after their mother.
Naturally, he had very little hope for his own love life and future marriage(s). Likely the reason that he latched onto the first person that showed him love wasn’t totally miserable.
Met his college sweetheart/wife while he was in business school. Her allure pulled him out to New York.
That, and their tandem goal: they’re foodies and craft beer fans, and they wanted to run a gastropub.
With their combined efforts they opened Longman & Engine, an eatery with a stately British pub feel, well-crafted eats, and a rotating beer menu.
He’s a workaholic. That place has both his heart and soul.
That awkward moment when your marriage DOESN’T have your heart and soul.
Total coward. Because of how he was raised he avoids any and all confrontation. Getting him to sit down and discuss things is like pulling teeth.
Very smart and driven, but a bit aloof. You’d never guess how sharp he is. Sort of a silent locomotive. Underestimation is how he got ahead in life.
He’s a bad Catholic. More dedicated to the Chicago Cubs than he is to practicing his religion.
Absolutely terrified of how other people see him. Overthinking and second guessing like mad.
Precautious to the nth degree. Self-preservation is sort of his M.O.
It’s his subtleties and tiny mannerisms that you might fall in love with. It’s easy to miss his sense of humor, which is fairly refined and folded easily into his regular speech. Will get along best with the patient, detail-oriented folk.
Fairly unaware of himself, physically. No matter how calculating his mind is, he’s often seen spilling coffee, leaving things laying around, and being reminded that his shirt is halfway untucked. A psychologist might chalk this up to his mother continually infantilizing him/failing to see him as an adult due to their lack of connection.
Not particularly sensitive (to other’s feelings). A little too uncomfortable with emotions for that.
A little bit of an asshole, tbqh. It’s not that he doesn’t realize it (he’s hyper-aware of everything), but more that he thinks it’s not his fault. Which makes him more of an asshole…
potential/preferred faces: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, James McAvoy, idek but someone that might give me a sort of "Diet John Cusack" feel.
congrats to our winners!
our reblog contest is over, and we’re going to let everyone who managed to reblog our ad to have one early reserve. so:
deathscapes
jayroleplay
sestrasarah
and la-stella-reina
congratulations! if you can please send us an ask with the face claim you want reserved, we’ll add it to the list.
for our other followers, general reserves will be opened later in the week, so keep an eye out for an announcement over the next couple of days containing more details.
reblog contest!
hi friends! we mentioned starting another contest towards the end of this week, and while it’s a little later than we were hoping, we’re going to be running a reblog contest for the remainder of the weekend. those who have reblogged this ad before monday the 12th of october at 11:59pm est will have a chance to win an early reserve. one reblog equals one entry, but please try not to flood your dash with our ad! and if you can, tag them with #tgifrp to ensure we can tally total reblogs correctly and assign entries accordingly. good luck!
the big apple isn’t just for the young and the famous. it’s for the lifers, the strong and the brave, people who fought hard to get to where they are and couldn’t imagine ever living anywhere other than the big city. where do you fit in, in the city that never sleeps? follow + track
