Meet Verity everybody!

I'm sure I've posted some of these before somewhere, but it's been a long time and I've updated his design a little since then. Also, he's technically no longer a MTG OC 😛 but idk how much I'll get into that, bc he's mostly part of something now that's just for gf and I to do for fun.

Even so, he's a fun character, and I love drawing him. Half angel, half devil, pure chaos!

the garden of words

*i will not include spoilers in here, i will mention something but you can see it if you click on ”keep reading”* also you can watch it on youtube and netflix

i just watched The Garden Of Words and i’m not sure how to feel about it. its short for a movie at 46 minutes long, like a special episode where its a little longer than 22 minutes (obviously excluding shows that have 11 minute long episodes because those specials are then 22 minutes long lol). the movie is about a 15 year old boy and a 27 year old woman. they never kiss, have sex, or even hold hands, but they do hug once. i didn’t feel any sexual tension between them while watching the movie. maybe just a hint of romantic tension in a “wait, what's happening/going on here” type of way. (i don’t consider this a spoiler, i thought this pretty early into the movie, wondering if something might happen). you find out the woman's exact age like halfway through the movie or so. you already know she's older since its in the description of the movie when you look it up. they're both kinda lonely or whatever and they find each other in this gazebo in a garden when its raining. it’s beautiful. the scenery, the animation, the sounds, the music. i’m going to post some screenshots i took while watching.

but then the boy says he loves her when they're caught in a rain storm and they go to her home to dry off (y’know, cus in anime they ain’t tryna get sick. idk how accurate that is in Japan to go to a strangers house so you don’t get sick but whatever). because they are strangers they didn’t know each others names until, again, halfway through the movie. they don’t know shit about each other. all the woman knew was that he likes designing shoes. with the vibe of the movie i wasn’t expecting anything malicious to happen and nothing malicious happened. the woman didn’t reciprocate his feelings (i think, based on her reaction) so that's good. he got out of her apartment and she then ran off to him barefoot (there’s a point to that, if you watch the movie you’ll see it). he took back what he said and said he hated her and then she started crying and hugged him. they ended on pretty neutral terms i would say. but at the end of the movie he said that he would find his way back to her (she was moving, already since before she met him). i don’t think we should focus too much on the little romantic bits of the movie, cus it seems more about people finding their own and coming into themselves. this is like a slice of life anime movie. i think the woman’s feelings to the boy is kind of like: i like him, he’s a nice boy with big dreams i hope he goes after. i think he might like me in a romantic sense but im 12 years older than him so i won’t think about it.

if i felt like a kid 12 years younger than me had a crush on me i wouldn’t think much about it either. i wouldn’t take it seriously because it’s not anything to me. they must know i’m too old. (besides the fact that, why would i ever talk to someone that much younger than me unless they’re family, a customer, a friends family member, or maybe, maybe a neighbor, maybe). except, the woman, idk something seemed off there, like, if maybe when they’re in their 30s and 40s or whatever she’d be open to it but y’know whatever, they talked for a couple of months and that’s it, she didn’t act predatory towards him so if that’s what hinted at happening then whatever. she just let each other get a little too close for a student and teacher especially since she knew he was a student but he didn’t know she was a teacher so he felt a little, betrayed i think is the word. a little weird, a little creeped out (which, of course is understandable). i personally do not think they end up together. in my mind he becomes a shoe designer/cobbler and does go find her to tell her about how his life went on after they parted ways and how he’s doing what he dreamed of and she’s doing better now too but they’re not going to pursue each other romantically. maybe they even found a romantic partner. when the boy said he wants to find her again this is what i think he meant. he wants to tell her how his life went cus she did have an impact on his life and he had one on hers too.

the movie is kinda nice, the romantic feeling felt more one sided but with the door slightly open to the other side, but besides that it’s alright. it’s a really visually beautiful movie.
