Thalia sprayed on more sunscreen before sliding the purple and gold rubber mermaid tail over her legs. She adjusted her halter top and made sure her boat was anchored. Today was finally a free day to enjoy a swim and practice with the tail. There were still baby turtles incubating in their hatcheries, and none of the others have returned to make nests yet. She pulled her goggles on, adding the nose clip, and slipped into the cold sea.
Practicing her kicks and her breathing, Thalia weaved amongst the coral and fish that called this place their home. Even though it had been half a year since she moved here, these sights still amazed her. But when she saw some trash laying on the sand below, she only became frustrated. How did all of this trash get out here?! There was no one else living near her and her mother!
She kicked her way to the bottom and gathered up all she could. Once her hands were full, Thalia slowly made her way back to the surface, and tossed the junk into a box attached to the side of her boat.
