Samus getting bonked on the head by a petty stone homunculus, now in HD
In a Metroid series I want a scene during the Prime arc where after Samus sees Meta Ridley flying overhead in Phendrana, we cut to him checking up on Project Titan. He lands on the edge of the Quarantine Cave’s sun roof, teasing “Thardus” for not greeting him. As far as the viewer knows and can see, it’s just a pile of rocks, with even a little cave formed that the camera zooms in on; Most might assume the rocks as terrain, and this elusive Thardus has hidden somewhere like an animal exhibit at the zoo, not in the mood for visitors. If the Stealth Pirates have already debuted, it could also be the assumption that Thardus is just cloaked. Unimpressed, Ridley decides there’s nothing new to report and flies off to leave Thardus alone, jokingly lamenting in playful frustration that Thardus won’t talk to him; So fine, be that way!
This is all set up to Samus scanning the Project Titan logs, which still don’t specify what exactly Thardus is. But he must be huge, so how did he hide in the earlier scene? Finally Samus lands in the Quarantine Cave, looking around at nothing but snow and a pile of rocks… And then the rocks start to move, and it suddenly becomes clear what Thardus is and who Ridley was talking to earlier.

The one moment of slapstick in Metroid Prime
You know, I haven’t seen anyone talk about how damn LOUD Thardus is! He is so damn loud it is intense! Granted, I haven’t played Metroid Fusion so I can’t really compare it to Neo Ridley, but it’s still gotta be up there. He just drowns out everything, even the music.
