Completely unsolicited advice/suggestion about that awesome bulb lamp, if you want to make it a bit more bearable look up "I found a really easy way to make milky frosted glass for light fixtures" on youtube which can make it MUCH easier to look at, the person had a similar issue with a glass top on some antique lamp.

I appreciate the insight! I've since given the lamp to a friend of mine, so the matter is out of my hands. I'll bring it up to the friend in case they want to get creative with it, though!
